Not all polarized glasses are the same... i've had this comparison with a few people already... some work some don't... Some polarize far better than others especially if you have medical lenses. In one set you could see well, in another you couldn't see anything at all. With prescription lenses you don't always get that choice.

I can't see the HUD in my X5 if I wear my polarized Oakleys. I can tell it's on, but it it too dim to see.

True, most good polarized glasses will hide the HUD. BMW did introduce an option to rotate the HUD which makes it visible with polarized glasses. Not as great as non polarized, but better nonetheless.

Never had an issue with polarized sunglasses hiding HUD's on other vehicles with it. My Chevy SS being one of them. But, i've never driven a BMW with it.

It definately does affect the intensity of the display. You must have yours on the highest illumination possible not to be affected by it

I replaced my lenses with non-polarised ones so I can use them in our G02 X4. Nice to be able to go back to polarized lenses when driving the F87 CS.

In my F80 M3, I did not like the reflection of the HUD lens (located in the dash), and it's reflection in the windshield. Made sure to not get HUD in our current X5. Not an issue with the CS.

I'll check later this week when I drive it again. It was a pleasant surprise that I had no issues since it's my prescription sunglasses that are polarized.

There are a lot of types of polarization as well, and different angle too. So it may be a factor of that for whatever lenses people have. My point really was that it wasn't a binary issue. But I didn't elaborate that at all originally.

Oh, and another knock on the G8x M cars? The awesome looking CF strut brace in the engine bay is GONE.
