Dear All,
I'm searching for the reason of this sound what you can hear on the video, the car is an M2 N55 with DCT. Many of the M2's with dct having this sound, but also there is agroup where there is no sound, so it's confusing :/

The issue:
The sound comes ONLY in neutral, and loud only after cold start,
But its coming exactly 7 times in each minutes after 50 sec silence, 7 noise 50 sec silent and so on, if i change to gear 1 or R, the sounds stops immediatelly, and only comes again if i take it back to N, so its kind like expected/programmed. I have NO leaking on my dct, and there was no leaking before as well but ofc i don't know the oil level currently!

Question 1: Cold it be the jet pump? 28107842838

I have never been outside the car after a cold start, I do not hear it from inside the car ... do you ?

From inside, if you not listening the radio, possible to hear a bit yes!

Just did a cold start for you , no external noise

The cold start its not a big factor in this, Neutral is in a dtc i think, maybe in manual as well, but was not able to test with manual, so even the car is warm enough, the sound is coming but absolutelly not loud, but still possible to hear some vaccum/pump noise from under!


And the funny fact is, that it's not coming always, but i was not able to figure out all conditions yet!

To confirm ... my car is a DCT and it was in N on the cold start

Also checked when returning from a two hour run out, idling in N in the garage and again ... no noise

Hope that you discover the cause, please keep us informed

I will do of course, so sad that nobody know the reason, but good thing is it's not individual, some lads from the the fb group confirmed they have as well, BUT they not care since the car works perfect(mine as well, just so f***n annoying)

Next month i will check it further, but right now im on a business trip
