Loudest stock exhaust sounds of automobiles - decibel level

What is/are the loudest stock exhaust sound(s) on modern cars?

-Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 - 92 decibel (which is near the 95 decibel limit for California USA)
-Jaguar F Type SVR V8 Supercharged - 68 decibel
-Lamborghini Aventador V12 - 70 decibel

So, at 92 decibels, I guess the Mustang GT350 is the current king of the noise? (for modern stock car)

P.S.
Surprisingly, I thought that a naturally aspirated V12 would take the crown......but my guess is that European noise regulations are stricter than USA/NA noise law.

There is no way a GT350 is louder than an SVR.. as I've owned a F-Type R and GT350 and rode in 1-2 SVR's and it was barely distinguishable which was louder. (GT350 had a lot more low end rumble, but F-Type R/SVR has crazy pops and crackles).

Unless you're talking about a GT350R which is without resonators.

I dont know where these numbers come from but my guess is that they're not measured following the same standards.
Comparing decibels without looking at the standards is useless. Its perfectly possible to measure 50dB with one standard and 80dB with another on the same car.

This. Is the measurement taken at idle? Redline? A specific RPM? Is it a peak measurement taken when the car's revved to redline or a specific RPM -- and is that rev under load or while the car's at a standstill in park or neutral? And where is the measurement being taken: an inch from the exhaust? A foot? A meter? On axis (IOW, straight back from the bumper) or off axis?

Meaningless. Absolutely meaningless.

I agree. Plus I think you can pull the fuse for the exhaust baffles and make the car even louder. Or maybe that was on an Aston Martin DBS. Anyways... a Jag SVR has some LOUD ass pop pops!!

Dackel

EDIT: Removing the fuse is for Aston Martins....

here is a stock Jag SVR...

I did a resonator delete on my GT350 and it's no louder (at least not noticeably) than with them in. You just get more pops, but they aren't that loud either.

But those DB numbers seem really off. You need to measure db between cars at the same location/distance and even weather as all those variables can affect DB levels. There's just no way an SVR and any Lamborghini would be 68-70db while a GT350 is 92. The numbers must have been pulled from completely different sources with different testing environments and distances.

Wow that is loud, and they have the noise regulation mufflers installed on the stock exhaust to cut down on the noise.

I feel a little bit bad when I light off the ZL1 every morning at about 6:20am, it starts with a pretty good 'crack' and then settles down after a couple of seconds.

Followed an F12 to work today. Sitting idle at the red lights, F12 was pretty loud. Surprisingly the volume dropped as it pulled away from the line. Now the guy was driving pretty conservatively, but it was an interesting observation. That being said, I'm sure it sounds like raped ape at full throttle.

Don't know how is measured but C&D's lightning lap tests cars for sound at 50 feet all the same way. The GT350R was the loudest ever measured at 104 db. Porsche GT4s, GT3s and Ferraris are pretty loud as well. At MRLS, the most problematic stock cars that I see get flagged are the GT350/R, GT3, and GT4.

This is quite possibly the best feature of our cars. They programmed it to open the exaust valves on start and damn if I wouldn't just sit there starting the damn thing all day long. So cool to hear. Other cars start, these kick off a soundtrack and roar to life.
