Dealer gave me a call today. I was #1 on the list. Car is mine at MSRP BSM with Exec and DCT. I've gone back and forth on the DCT but have grown to like it in my 135is. At the track it can't be beat. On the street very good too but definitely not as much driver involvement. Anyway I'm now tracking on MYBMW since I have the production number. No production date yet. Will keep you informed.

They're selling their launch car, and reasonably close. But, for 25k over. Due in soon, I understand.
Reality check -- does that say '25k over'? As in US Dollars? As in 'Ben Dover, I will drive you home'?

This one time... At 1M camp....

Yes ... I feel like a certain character In a movie when I keep saying .. With the 1M....

At any rate .. 1M launch cars usually spent a day or so on the floor so that locals could come ogle, and then the owner picked it up. Usually with something around it so stays pristine.

And then the following delivery cars were all sold through already ... Which is exactly
How you don't get to test drive a car like a 1M.. Cayman GT4... Gt350.. Etc.

PS..
By the time launch cars get to dealers they will be sold, half of them to the dealer owner....:

It will come from BMW to the performance center. You go to the performance center and then drive it home.

I had a client catch a train up there and drove his X5 hybrid home.

That's what the "Launch" vehicle is intended for.

Get everyone all hyped for the vehicle. Let them drive it and drool over it. Eventually someone will buy it.

However, at the end of the day it is still a business. So some dealers sell it and some keep them locked up.

My dealer says a launch vehicle will arrive soon. It is for people on the list and other serious prospective buyers to drive. Color will be black, was asked if interested in buying.

That's outstanding! Assuming Portland in your location is OR and not ME, could you send me the dealer info? I'd love to at least set eyes on the car before buying one.

Regardless, I'm going to start vigorously looking for a ED allocation next wee. Pick up has to be between late March and Mid April so the F87 is a long shot, I may even have trouble finding a F80 to settle for.

Late March/April of 2016?

I'm sorry but that is impossible.

Just placed my order for a manual mineral grey with executive at Stevens Creek. I am 20 on the list and they expect delivery in 10-12 months. They guaranteed me MSRP but I've seen dealers bait and switch and once the car is ready, they put a markup on it. If you don't take it they sell it to the next sucker who got your allocation. Hope that doesn't happen here.

Can you elaborate? I see you as well as others have a week 15 build date, someone else posted a March date. Add 10-14 for BMW to make the car and I could be close to my target. Assuming that is why you said it is impossible.

I emailed them today and they told me they are currently collecting orders from customers so that they submit the number of interested customers to BMW and BMW will determine how many cars they are gonna build and how many allocations the dealer will get. It sounded some sort of BS to me honestly. I'm pretty sure BMW already knows how many M2s they are gonna produce initially and how many cars each dealer is gonna get.

I think I need to quit reading all this stuff. $5k over, $10k over, $25k over, orders being taken, delivery dates handed out, #20 getting delivery in one year.

My dealer still says allocation unknown, MSRP and not a dime more (I have that in writing, so reasonably tough to 'amend' later), not taking orders yet. I am #10 according to one salesperson and #12 according to another, but both tell me 'no worries, we will get you a car.'

The whole thing is just crazy making. I'm going to pretend I never heard of the M2 and if, at some point, my dealer contacts me to say he can take an order and give me an approximate delivery date, I will treat it as a fortuitous event and shout 'hallelujah' - that last hopefully not in the same manner and spirit as Caribou Barbie's recent endorsement blather.

After doing a few ED's for clients I've realized that BMW makes it a bit of a challenge to get "quick" ED turn around time.

The process alone takes a bit of time.

I will reach out to NA tomorrow and check and see what the earliest dates will be for ED for you though.

My dealer is not only sticking at MSRP for future allocations, it is keeping its demo for....demo purposes! Imagine that.

I'm going to stay out of the early release circus...makes my BP high just reading this stuff. I'll see what is happening for MY2017, if I don't succumb to an F89 competition package.

Mountain View said the price would be what the market dictates which means...markup! They already had 18 on their list. Peter Pan was at 20 too with MSRP guaranteed.
