The larger the intercooler the better chance for lag. Discuss this with your installers.

Like I said originally, my installer is encouraging me to go the CSF route because they have a sponsorship with them. I don’t want to be pushed into something because of their business relationship. I’m leaning towards the vsrf FMIC from the research due to the research I’ve done. Because of that they won’t advise me on anything VRSF FMIC related because they want me to go another route.

So I'm sure this question comes up a lot but I'm looking for the right intercooler for my application.

2017 M2 with MPE, currently stock. IN the near future I'll be upgrading my downpipe to high flow cat and I'll be getting a BM3 tune. I'm not planning on turbo or fueling upgrades.

I'm more interested in minimizing turbo lag than maxing out power gains. What intercooler would you recommend for mainly street use?

Hi,
I recommend a 6-6.5" intercooler for the best balance between low IAT and pressure air drop.

Lots of good options including Wagner EVO II, VRSF 6.5" Competition & CSF

I really like the Wagner Evo 2 Competition. It had minimal lag. The Evo 1 comp is smaller and should have even less lag. Some cheaper intercoolers are a design (bar and plate?) that generally adds more lag, but heat soaks slower. Tube and fin designs are less lag and cool down faster, but heat soak quicker, and more expensive.

Is Wagner Evo 2 Competition a Tube and Fin design? Did it install with any issues? What mods are on your engine?

I had a shop install it. They said it was a tight fit but required no trimming. I just have a stage 1 ACN bm3 tune. The competition intercooler are tube and fin. Not tracking yet but I like the back roads and hate lag so seemed like the best fit.

Wagner Intercooler

Am considering between Wagner Evo Competition 1, and 2 Intercooler for my M2. Which do you think would be best? Mods will be Charge Pipe ,(TBD), and Bootmod 3 Stage 1 tune, or Stage 2 tune.

EVO I if you plan on keeping stage 1 bm3
EVO II if you wish on going with stage 2 bm3

I would get EVO II with stage 2 bm3

Ok, one more question. Is there currently a tube and fin IC available for the M2? I know CSF made one but not sure if they still do.

The reason I'm interested because I want to minimize turbo lag and I won't be pushing the car past stock turbo and stage BM3 1 tune.

Only Wagner Tuning offer tube and fin intercoolers, EVO II Comp and EVO III Comp are available

Hey guys,

Just got my new M2 with full akra system excl downpipe.

Will be doing aggressive driving around city + canyons + track.

70% city driving, 20% canyon driving, 10% track.

Melbourne gets hot summers from 30-40degrees for two months and 20-30 for spring.

Car will go for Stage 2.

Can you recommend a downpipe + charge pipe (maybe FTP?) + intercooler?

Would like to cut the car as minimally as possible.

Budget wise if performance difference is miniscule and difference in price is 50% then no thank you.

I appreciate all of yall's help!
