Memory Seats; Tap Adjustment Sometimes Fails!

On start-up; in park; engine running tapping the memory seat will move to that seat position.

Putting the car in gear; tapping the seat position no longer works, but holding the numbered stored position will continue moving the seat until it is in it's saved position.

Parking up at the end of the journey I haven't figured it out yet.

What exactly is the situation with memory seats in the M2? Is there anyone out there who's seats will move to the saved position all the time? Is there something wrong with my car?

Thanks nioh, what is happening at the end of the journey though?

I think I've pulled up before & tapped the memory position & the seat has gone to the whole position from a tap. However when I posted this thread; after a short journey the seat would not go to it's position from a single-tap.

There must be some sort of time restriction on the memory seat? If so what is it?

I'm not too sure but the manual kind of mentions something like this

I think it's tied to either being in park on with the handbrake applied as BMW doesn't want the liability of the seat moving with one touch while the car can potentially be driven/moving. An example would be in position 1 is your position and position 2 is someone much taller or shorter than you. If you accidentally hit position 2 while the vehicle is in motion, the seat would be moving into a position where you can't safely control the car anymore.

Thanks nioh, that seems that if I open & shut the door it'll reset the guard & enable 'full-memory adjustment'.

That'll tie0in with my inconsistent results so far.

Many thanks.

Mine inconsistent too just as you say. Sometimes tap it once and it moves everything into place. Other times you have to hold it down..
