That would be one helluva way to pick up your car. And I strongly recommend you to do PCD, a load of fun for your stateside pickup. Also, BMW puts you up for one night with comp meals, which is always nice 👍
That's a brilliant idea - I didn't even consider that!

Although I'd need to drive back before December...I'm not about to drive summer tires in snow

Playing the waiting game after the order got purged. I’ve been in touch with bmwna and made enough noise to get their attention. But so far, they are holding the cards very tight and not committing to much of anything.
But Raven is a sweetheart, and confirmed my ED paperwork was in order just not attached to a production number currently.

Added you to the top...2020 or 2021, stitching color?

It was going to be a 20, but I have a feeling it will be a 21.
Orange stitching

And with any luck, third and final ED.

I noticed the exec package is popular, but I really like the older headlight style - more original angel eye like. What’s the draw?

Awesome...added above. Can't believe we're at 8. Seems like many of us ordered in the last couple weeks after BMW's announcement. I know it only took me about a day from the announcement to reach out to Raven's team and get the ball rolling. Glad to see another SO. I may drop the moonroof and move to a driver's pack for that added limiter. This will be my second ED and second 2 series ED. I have to get an M ED. If it doesn't workout, I'll do a Porsche either this scheduled trip or next year.

The drivers pack is tempting and I realize that it includes m school, but it’s sad to think that the only place you’ll use the raised limiter is in Germany. Unless you’re trying to outrun the cops

Very true. I look at it like this. $2500 is the cost, plus tax...$2700 ish in California. $1550 I believe is the credit toward a class, which I will definitely use toward some Advanced M School. But, I also have the BMWCCA 15% discount, so $1550 credit is worth about $1825. $2700-1825 is $875. I am pretty sure I'll gladly pay $875 for the pleasure of getting into the 170s on the autobahn.

ED on July 23?!

Without getting into all the details my ED journey has already been a roller coaster. It took me almost 6 months to get an allocation for ED and had to work with 4 different dealerships to get it done.

I finally got everything in place and a delivery date of May 14th (which also would have set our time in Europe to include my birthday). When COVID-19 hit I reached out and got the date pushed back and I now have a confirmed date of July 23rd. Waiting to hear back if there is any possibility to push my date back again assuming travel continues to be not feasible. I now have the VIN and status shows it has entered production as of this week.
  • Hockenheim silver
  • Blue stitching
  • Executive package
  • Black wheels

*fingers crossed

Email Raven, she is the best. I pushed from June to Aug and believe we can push again with notice.

Posted your build up top...you're the ninth in this final ED blitz!

Raven has been great...she probably thinks we're a bunch of crazies...I'll admit, I am. I don't think you can push a MY2020 to September, but we're going to find out, as Kevin's car is no doubt in production or already built.

Mine is a MY20 and Sept is ok according to Raven

As Helles pointed out to me, according to a CA post over on Bimmerfest, https://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sh...1380759&page=4, it looks like BMW is going to fulfill orders...provided you have an allocation. Hoping this works out. Maybe they were going to cancel ED at the end of this summer regardless and just figured they'd do a gimmick to drum up some sales? Who knows?!

Raven was kind enough to give me a few more details yesterday.

She said that dealers are waiting for 2021 allocations and once they receive them, they can get a production number and then she'd be able to confirm my date.

Sounds like encouraging news.

That is fantastic, thank you for updating us. Did she give a hint when dealers will be receiving allocations?

As I said previously, I am not doing ED. However, I'm hoping the process will be similar and once allocation is released, I can "quickly" get a production date

Good luck all you guys! ED will be missed for sure.

I just noticed all of the ED builds are 6MT!

Unfortunately no, so still playing the waiting game there. To be honest I don't think she knows either. But who knows.

I find this thread very interesting.

My build is a 2020 Alpinweiß, black 788M, 6MT, blue stitching, carbon trim.

Got Status 105 in Jan. Moved pickup date to July and got Status 111 in very early March.
Got the ED package from BMWNA just before COVID hit. Sent out purchase order and passport info in April.

Been in touch with Raven since May 1. She's been trying to convince me that pickup will happen as requested since I submitted the forms before the deadline (May 15 or 18). She confirmed my July 30 date on May 15. Haven't heard from her since (she was supposed to confirm the exact pickup time by this past Friday).

Did ED once before, with wife and kids, it was fantastic. We took our Q7 to Grossglockner pass, former EVO stomping grounds in Val d'Orcia, had family vacation in Portofino, and did some 130+mph sweeps on Autobahn. Will not buy a new car without ED.

This time, we plan to do route 17 from Glarus, hit Susten, Grimsel and Furka passes, do route 500 up Schwartzwald to Baden-Baden, and wrap it up in Mosel, visiting some vineyards and doing a few laps on the Nordschleife.

It’s an amazing experience, isn’t it Buchloe? Your route sounds incredible.

I’m watching the governmental press releases like a hawk regarding non-citizen travel. The boarders are slowly opening for intra-eu travel, but not yet to international. Currently, the absolute earliest it will happen is June 15th. And who knows if they’ll impose any type of mandatory quarantine at first.

We finally got a white one! Buchloe_Burkard, you've been added to the top post...I think you bring us to 10! Great route! My intended routes incorporates that trifecta. Route 17 is the Klausenstrasse, another great one!

I saw a piece this weekend that showed Spain's PM saying they intend to open for international travel "from July." I don't know if that means crossing the border with France international or come on in on Iberia international, but I got the sense it was the latter when he talked about the 80MM+ annual tourists and the importance of tourism.

Yes - the tourist heavy destinations (Spain, Italy, Greece, Croatia) are really pushing to open. It makes up a significant portion of their GDP and the small businesses will fail without tourists. At least the lawmakers are seeing that their countries will be much worse economically if they don’t open.

Exactly...they won't survive without the tourists. I think in Italy it's about one-seventh of GDP. They'll never sell enough Alfas to offset the gelatos at the Trevi in the summer! Germany looked to be pushing too!
