Match UP-7BMW Amp

So ran the pp 86dsp and honestly I was disappointed. It certainly was not plug and play and was eating up too much time. BimmerTech's customer service is second to none but I was time starved so they let me return it for the price of shipping.
I has almost given up on the amp idea. I have installed many amps in this HK system before on different cars (mainly MINIs) but they take time and I don't have that right now. Then I read a thread by Dirtboy on the Match UP 7BMW. A plug and play amp for BMW's from Audiotech Fischer. I contacted the manufacturer as it did not list our HK system as working but they convinced me that it would work.
So got the amp and loaded the GT tune from their site....
The difference in sound it night and day better! On every level in every frequency. I can not recommend this upgrade enough.....and best of all a trained circus money could install it.
I'm putting in speaker (JL Audio) too - but for most the amp is all you need,

I've had it installed on mine for about 4 months now and its such a significant improvement, especially at the price. Definitely agree with op on this!

You made the right choice on that. I think I've had mine too long for them to take it back. I'll probably end up using it for a few more months, having MusicarNW put my old amps in (somehow) and then I'll give it to friend who won't care about the lack of low-end power. Ah well, I've wasted more money on sillier things before and I probably will again.

Best thing is the GT tune. Rock solid starting point most will be happy with.

I'll have to say though, you'll get a way better tune if you use the Audiotec Fischer software and tune it yourself. Plus, take the time to do the time alignment correctly; this alone will get you a better soundstage. If the GT tune has time alignment in it, it'll be way off because of the difference in speaker location.

Just put a set of C5 speakers in the doors. What a dramatic difference almost as big a difference as the amp. That being said I have not heard these without the amp.

Curious which year M2 you have? I read somewhere the LCI 2018 model upgraded the HK amplifier, so wondering how big an improvement you got over the stock system. Thanks!

Mine is an LCI. It is the same HK that was in my MINI JCW. Not horrible but definitely no close great either. Muddy is the best word for the HK in the F87. Not now though.

Match UP-7BMW Amp

Color me interested. I thought these Match Up amps were/are IC chip based, and didn't really put out clean good power, but based on the reviews looks like that's not the case...would appreciate any more feedback and info on these amps, thanks!

I've got an LCI as well. I started off with just the Match amp and kept the HK speakers. It was a great improvement in soundstage and clarity.

Just changed every speaker. SWS -8's under the seats JL 5's in the doors and tweeters with JL passive crossovers. Sounds pretty amazing....like a completely different car. I have a set of Jehnerts' might install those with a Musicar sub when I have more time.

When needed, yes. It wouldn't take more than about 20 minutes to drop the stock amp back in.

Quick question for those with the Match UP Amp; how much of a difference does it make for streaming apps over carplay?

Big enough to warrant it's purchase, IMO.
I notice more stereo separation and clarity.
The biggest difference is manifested by the ability to fine tune the EQ and T/A and power my full Audison speaker pack.
Then again, I also added sound deadening to help make those differences more apparent at speed.
