ynguldyn Have you seen this:

http://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1433526

?

Is it really an M3 CS? Wouldn't we have had some other indicators by now, like we did with the M4 CS? No interior pics or under hood pics to further validate it as such a car. Also, as others have pointed out, it's missing LCI headlights. No OLED tail lights either, which is not a big surprise considering none yet exist for the sedan, but without those it gets harder to justify the price I'd think.

If not that, any idea what it is? Other things that come to mind that I suppose it could potentially be:

- A past mule for an M3 CS that never came to be
- A past mule to test the water injected S55
- A new mule for a limited edition M3 coming just before it ends production
- A new mule used as an S58 test bed
- A new mule for G80 M3 chassis/engine/drivetrain testing

Is it really an M3 CS?
I doubt it.

Still, it's a surprise to me, and I can't really make a good guess as to what it actually is.

Confirming the M2 rumor everyone wanted to be true, and a few other things.

A more powerful hybrid powertrain is coming in 745e and X5 xDrive45e models.
Is this an additional model or does it replace the 740e and X5 xDrive40e?

I've tested the 740e and I feel it has enough power. The better way would be to add more electric range. I think this is planned too.

Cool update, thanks.

I wonder what they will do with this M2 CSL for weight savings. It is a good bet we'll see an M4-GTS-like interior including a roll cage, especially since Van Meel said we can expect CSL vehicles to go that route. But, there are other potential upgrades like CFRP body panels, use of CFRP in the chassis components (such as driveshaft, for example), and so forth depending on what the target price point is.

I see some hints (though no hard info) that the powertrain will emphasize the electric side much more than the existing hybrid tech.

Now the question becomes: do we get an M2 CS and CSL or just the CSL?

One is going to be hard to get, the other impossible...

M2 CS/Competition is coming with S55 and my current lease ends on 6/19 so I can wait.

I'll jump on one if it comes with all the M goodies. Seats, mirrors, steering, throttle and suspension controls. Don't forget M1 & M2 preset buttons with all with customization that comes with! Then I'd be down no doubt

That's a perfect list of items that simply won't happen on an M2, and it sounds like you aren't really a serious M2 buyer. You are wasting your time you should be enjoying an M4!

So the S55-powered M2 CS/Competition is actually replacing the N55 model altogether? I guess I haven’t been following close enough - is that confirmed?

If that’s the case, that would seem to make the possibility of an S58 powered M2 right out of the gate for the next generation even more likely. That would definitely get me thinking seriously about a Gxx M2 for my next car, despite the fact that I would really prefer not to have to give up the convenience of four doors

Yeah, hundreds of configurable steering/throttle/suspension combination settings has M3/4 written all over it. Seriously, who needs all that shit?

This seem strange. An S55 M2 will probably be really close to the M3 price wise. If they can fit the S55 and keep the price around the N55 M2 level that will be one hell of a deal!

Yeah, I'd think a B58TU "standard" M2 would be more likely. Also would be nice if there's a switch to the carbon-fiber chassis (CLAR?) for significant weight reduction.
