I agree, i'm not so sure I like anyone drilling out anything and replacing the roof. The hood on the other hand is an easy replacement, and I have a shop that will match the paint perfectly.

1. He would not know. He is part of a team of 20 people. This is not info they know of the top of their mind at the show like this.

I dont expect anyone to have these answers...just throwing it out there
It's most likely a port install for USA. Even so, I'm not getting the roof. Not worth the mental trauma of knowing they tore apart the car (windshield, rear window, etc.) , that stress alone would kill me from the inside.

MR please, can you ask him if the first allocation in the us for a September delivery or late August will be able to have the MPE exhaust installed at port ?

The only performance parts I'm interested in is the hood and wheels.
I will wait and hear the US spec exhaust before making a decision on the Perf exhaust.

1+ Every time I heard any weird creaking noise; I'll believe in my heart of hearts they screwed something up during the installation process..

Way too much room for human error with this sort of intensive R&R.

BL: All aftersales parts are being installed at the dealer. Every single part!!!! The dealers will be handed extensive manuals on how to deal with it. The installation will be done as we have seen before in videos online. The window screens are removed, the welds are being drilled and the new roof is put into place. The dealer will have to do it. If they don’t want to do it, it means you should go to another dealer who does want to do it. For the U.S. market it means that all parts are either fitted at the port on new cars, or at the dealer when you have a 2nd hand M2C, M2 (LCI), M240i, or a normal 2-Series Coupe.
Confirmed port install for US.

Yup, I'd be worried about all the following...
  • Leaking, not sealed properly around the windows.
  • Creaking, not installed properly.
  • Rusting, not primed and painted properly.
  • Fit and finish.
No thanks.

A long the line you will see more photos and pictures... Communication colour is HS on the stock car, and AW for the M Performance car.

The exhaust is available in September. Unknown if timings will be aligned. Want to be safe? Order later or let the dealer install it... Other option, leave it at the port until the exhaust is available.

Lets not fill this thread will roof install crap again. There was much more interesting tidbits in this questionnaire. We already knew about dealer install, port install is a plus for some.

I will 1000% do it, and I will try to show it to you guys on camera as well.

I have trust we will make it work, especially because I will be pointing a camera on the work done.

The roof here is done quite well. I like what I see on a pre-production car.

Are the Turbos the same size on the S55 in the M2C as the M3/M4? Aka is the S55 exactly the same?

As mentioned in my talk, the gas struts are from the M4 GTS. Because also there you have a carbon bonnet.

Are you also getting the CF bonnet (hood) and side panels (fenders)? If so would like to see a video of those being installed as well.
