Looks like an amazing trip. I did Charlotte NC to Colorado and back in 2014, 4500 miles driving a 2012 335is. It was a great trip although I did mostly interstates to and fro except for CO and NM. The return west to east seemed more challenging due to the time change, losing an hour each day. I also did 2200 miles in a Kia Sorento rental SUV in 2016 between Rapid City SD, Yellowstone, Grand Tetons, and down into ID & UT.
