They did send theses pics which helps illustrate how the PS4S bead is narrower than some other brands.
From this it's understandable that the knurling may effect bead seating.

Thanks mate, so far my problem seems to be fixed with a sealer, but in the future i will switch to another tire for certain, i love the PS4S but it is certainly not the best Match for this wheel .

I hope that Forum members will be aware of this to avoid recurrent issues

Never could get the PS4S to seal on mine - they should remove that tire from the recommended list.

I moved the PS4S to the EC-7 and they seal great. Bridgestone RE71-RS are now on the VS-5RS and seal no problem.

Mine seem to be doing well so far but i used a sealer and did the procedure of pumping them to 50PSI for 10 min then go back to 35PSI.

Count your self lucky , if it ain't broken don't fix it but i suggest you monitor the pressure, guys on Porsche and Mustang Forums noticed slow leak that needs to be addressed after a week or 2

Well ! look back at their answer above on this thread but my advice to you ( if you do not track the car ) is this :

Get a good shop to use a proper sealer on these knurling then pump it up to 50PSI and let it sit for 10 min unmounted before dropping the pressure to OEM level 35 to 38psi . this is what i have done and so far so good.

Next time when these tires are worn i will switch to another tire brand and i will clean the wheels from the current sealer

I would say that the ps4s leaks are the exception, rather than the rule. This is something we're still looking at and tracking, but the vast majority of our customers on this tire with unpainted knurled beads don't have issues. Bead width seems to be the primary driver of any leaks in this area as shown above but even though leaks clearly can occur, they aren't inevitable or the norm.

With that being said, please let us know via email if leaks reoccur or occur. We'll work to resolve the issue and support the products we sell.

Adding to this, i've been driving about 250/300 road miles and have had no issues with the VS-5S alloys and tyre pressures.

But as soon as I went on track yesterday, I had 3 of the tyres gain pressure normally under heavy load. Unfortunately one of my rear tyres was losing air quite rapidly.

I'm running Cup2's instead of the 4s's on 19x9.5" ET28/19x10.5" ET45.

Had the tyre assessed, no air bubbles or punctures. Had the tyre resealed to the rim, valve needle replaced. Still had the same issue repeat on the very last session. It might not be an alloy issue but a TPMS seal but concerning to see. I've bought a new TPMS and taking it to another garage today to see if they can spot anything.

Anyone else got any trouble shooting tips?

As Mavus said, none of our wheels come with TPMS by default. Many of the chassis we sell wheels to don't even use the in-wheel sensors and often customers have sensors on hand already or want to run without in-wheel sensors and code out the warnings.

We have them listed on the accessories section of our site if you want to pick up a set.

As an update on this thread , my wheels stopped losing air thus far but i did put a sealer , i do not track my car nor drive it hard really . the ps4s did last 3 seasons on my previous car so it's not because i baby it on purpose , i have no idea if this remedy will last for long but if it occurs again i will have to switch tires to a new brand .

question : is it easy to clean the rims knurling from the sealer if we decide to install new tires later ??

Standard adhesive remover (goo gone et c) will get most sealant off fairly easily, but cleaning the knurling itself will be a bit time-consuming.

Haven’t tried many PS4S alternatives, but have heard nothing but good things about Continental ExtremeContact Sport 02 and SportContact 7, as well as Bridgestone’s Potenza Sport tires.

I’m personally running Bridgestone Potenza Race tires rather that Cup 2 Connects and have been happy all around with their performance (same quality feedback, quiet, and will hopefully last longer.)

I can vouch for the Continental ExtremeContacts Sport 02s, used them in another one of my cars and it felt every bit as good as the PS4S, dare I say even better? Idk

Apex needs to have an air leak warning about using PS4S on the VS-5RS. This issue is specific to this wheel-tire combo because the PS4S is installed on a very large number of oem wheels and other aftermarket wheel brands without issue. If it is due to the knurling then redesign the knurling but don’t force buyers to spend more time and money ATTEMPTING to address a known issue. Their knurling design used on other wheels hasn’t resulted in air leaks with the PS4S so why was the knurling design changed to an untested design on the VS-5RS? I’d be pissed if I wasn’t warned in advance of this issue with the PS4S, and then to be told “it’s the exception to the rule” (only true IF this was the one and only set to leak which is not the case). Next they walk you thru an approach that requires dismounting the tire, applying wheel sealant in apparently a very specific way, remounting the tire, pressurizing the tire to its max inflation pressure, holding max pressure for 10 min, and finally setting the pressure to 38 psi. Repeat process over again until it no longer leaks. I’d be asking for a FULL refund at this point. Period.
