Mine was very notchy cold with oe fluid - which came out like old dishwater.

Redline DCT improved things a lot, especially 1>2 and 2<1.

Wouldn't recommend mixing oils, you don't know what you're getting then.

Is it not available at walmart (but if it hasn't changed and PPE is still hard to find in the US, then you can get the big bottles of quakerstate euro 5w40 which is the same thing as PPE 5w40 since shell owns both quaker state and pennzoil and it should be the same relabeled shell helix ultra 5w40)?

But here in Canada you can easily get the 5L jugs of PPE 5w40 at walmart and canadian tire, and they always have alot of stock. We can also get quaker state euro 5w40 and moto master euro 5w40 (shell made this for Canadian tire) which is the same thing as PPE 5w40.

Walmart, but I’m in Canada. F87source above has some good advice (as per usual) if you’re in the US.

I’m doing my diff/tranny changes every four years and not by mileage as mine is not a daily. I changed both soon after I bought the car as I wasn’t sure of the history and wanted peace of mind.

Bmw's 6mt uses low viscosity dctf so redlines dctf fluid is compatible, also 6mt fluid requires mtf lt5 spec and dctf satisfies it.

Yeah redline dctf is a super popular option for 6mt owners. I'm going to swap over next year.

mine is an 2018 LCI with 18k miles, they only time the diff fluid was changed was at 866 miles(idk why so low) at break-in service

is this something that can wait till 30k miles or should i just do it now

also: what is the verdict on the proper diff fluid to use, is it MSP/A or SAF-XJ3 or SAF-XO or something else?

Diff fluid should be MSP/A if you can get it, otherwise for everyone else (I think this is limited to North America) we should be using SAF-XJ.

Do not use SAF-XO that is for open diff cars and it will likely cause damage to your clutch packs on our electronic LSD.

In terms of aftermarket fluid IDK - I would personally stick to OEM fluids just to be safe.

Yes just 1L of fluid is required and it will perfectly fill up the diff.

I believe that is indeed the correct plug - check real oem to be sure. You need 2 - one for the fill and one for the drain, since they are single use.
