Tuned by me this one on the Haltech Nexus R3 ground up build 1000hp IAG motor from the states

34psi only.

Useless under 4500rpm ... as mentioned I will be sure to post results of the progress on the M2 in due course even if it is on the baby Pure 500

Nice! Not too familiar with Subaru, is that a 2.5 liter engine? 1000hp on 34psi is very impressive, do you have some headwork on that?

So, no dyno chart? I’m actually really curious now what the torque curve looks like for that turbo.

Okay, 700 seems more reasonable Boy, after looking at only in-line 6's for years, those Subaru 4 cylinders have a very unique appearance.

Me too. It would be interesting to see how much 3 liter vs. 2.5 liter helps spool.

Displacement will always help with spool but it would be pretty lazy below 4000rpm that i can assure you. Doesn't mean drivability would be compromised just lazy on the hit at wot. The Pure 500 is exactly what I was chasing on the M2 and so far even on the BM3 OTS its proven I made the right choice.

No dyno yet, but hopefully soon enough I will schedule a dyno

Bend Calibrations Ultimate Flex Fuel Kit Install

Got all the hardware and wiring installed for the Bend Calibrations Ultimate Flex Fuel Kit today, along with a fresh set of plugs gapped to 0.024. Part of the install also included adding an additional OBD2 port for fast logging, which should make data collection much easier moving forward.

The install itself was relatively painless, but make no mistake—it’s a job! Some of the documentation could definitely use a bit of polish, as I felt a few steps were missing, which didn’t help with the anxiety levels at times.

The ECUtek side of things was also a bit of a mental workout—between unlocking the ECU, loading tunes, and getting into logging, it was a steep learning curve. But after a few days of trial and error, I’ve pretty much got it nailed.

So far, I’ve received my first map from Ian at Bend, so now the real fun begins—logging, testing, and providing feedback. Looking forward to seeing how everything comes together! So far, so good. 🚀💪

Yeah it’s definitely a process moving from BM3 to EcuTek. Once you’re over and in the rhythm of logging, saving the file, and flashing revisions it becomes clock work.

Don’t use the “send to Bend Calibration” option in the EcuTek app like I did at first. Save the file locally or to your iCloud and then email to Bend Calibration.

To help consolidate some content on the topic here is a video of DetroitM2 documenting some of the install process:

I was running stock plugs, a CSF intercooler, stock injectors, and stock TMAP sensor when I started the journey and all were a mistake. Moving to EU5 S63 injectors, a 3.5b pre-throttle MAP sensor, the F8S spark plug for ethanol gapped to .024, and upgraded intercooler all added delays to my tuning process which could have been avoided had they been in place from the jump.

Don’t be like me kids. Get the details right on the first go.

I definitely want to try out those F8S spark plugs and the injectors. Did you notice a difference in how well it ran with those two?

There won't be much difference between F8S and D8S. F8S can run slightly larger gap than D8S. B58 conversion/S63 EU5 do make a noticeable difference if your car is above 500-520whp.

Yeah I definitely have B58 conversion on the to-do list. And I think I'll be above 500 with the Pure500 once it gets turned up. The cool thing about the Pure500 is nobody really knows where the efficiency ceiling is. Can it do 530-560 whp consistently with the proper setup? I guess we will find out.

Nope, Pure500 is a 460-500whp turbo with correct fuel. The maximum effort is close to 500-520whp ish, which means you can stick with stock EU6 injectors while running E85.

Not worth upgrading to EU5 just for a few extra hp, extra tuning, too much stress on Pure500 etc. Pure500 is a perfect plug and play turbo for DS2/DS25 HPFP upgrade only. Pure500 uses stock turbo manifold, which is gonna be the choke point. It'll have massive back pressure, more heat to push above 500whp.

B58 conversion is not necessary, F8s/D8s can do the job well. The most noticeable difference is the stronger B58 coils + plugs give you a smoother driving experience at low rpms/low boost scenario.
