If it was special, then sure.
But if it'd be the same spec maybe a different color? I wouldn't care. If it was 2K to get an individual color (which I know at least for the USA isn't gonna happen) I would without question. |

This is the real question...if it was sitting there for a while and had a few hundred miles, I would wait. No telling what happened during those miles. I passed on a car that was same specs as mine because of a situation like that and just ordered one. Much rather know what it went through vs not knowing. I realize it won't kill the car, but it was a personal preference.

It has 20 ish miles and that is my main concern. Do you think it's possible for someone to violate the break in limits and cause issues during a test drive? If not, you're all correct that there's no reason for me to go with the build.

Since it has so few miles on it, I'd say go for it. If the one I mentioned before had 20 miles on it, I would have jumped on it. Some people have gotten their ordered cars in and had that many on it after the dealer got done with it.

Also, did you test drive the car? Did they prevent you from revving past 4500? How many miles did they let you drive? If they made YOU be cautious on a short drive, chances are they handle all/most of the M test drives that way. IMO the car will be fine, and its not worth the 2k to order your own...which will still have a few miles before you get your hands on it anyway. However, if the peace of mind is important to you, then place the order. There is no wrong answer here other than spending this much money in a way that wont make you happy. Good luck!

I agree. 20 miles is nothing. Save the $2,000 and have fun in your new M.

Take the one on the lot. An ordered car could get damaged in transit or have some other issue. Test drive the one on the lot and if it feels good then buy it. The M2 Competition doesn't have enough options to warrant a unique order when a similar car is on the lot.

I wouldn’t buy any high end car brand new with more than 10 miles on it. My $.02
. It would also depend on how long it’s been on the lot, where it’s been stored (inside/outside). I’d get it in the sunlight and inspect every inch for scratches or swirls. Edit: thinking more about this, I did get my wife a brand new Individual 650i with about 25 miles on it, but we got almost $20k off sticker |

It’s worth it if you’re going to keep it more than 2 especially if you plan to sell privately at the end of that time

It's also worth it if you want to do performance center delivery for the experience.
However, if I don't care about the experience, I would just pick up one on the lot and be done with it. 20 miles is really not that much and pretty standard for on the lot cars that have very minimal test drives.

you were just questioning if 2K justified getting a car with 10 less miles and now you are asking if a <2K PPF is worth it if you dont keep the car 10 years.
How about you just lease it and give everyone a break? |

For me, I would rather pay an extra $2k for a brand new car...I might even go up as much as $5k honestly.

There a many people who will spend $5k getting PPF and then Ceramic etc., so really it all depends on your conditions. I've never done this with any car because my cars are garage kept, and parked indoors even at work. I take good care of them, and keep them 8+ years, and the paint is usually in excellent condition. Btw, around where I am $2k will barely cover the front end of the M2 in just PPF. Do your own research, and knowing your conditions, determine what to do.
