If so, I'm interested. Curious as to what pricing will be?

If this sells well, I wonder if other brands would jump on this?

That wouldn't make any sense... The S55 sound is due to different exhaust lengths, specifically the down pipe lengths. If they use a single mid, then the exhaust flow is no longer separated, therefore eliminating the need for this whole exhaust. The equal length will definitely be a true dual to the back, and there will be some extra length on one side, to make up for the DP differences.

Not quite correct, they equalize the lengths then merge them to create an even exhaust pulse. If you kept them separate it wouldn't materially change the sound, people have tried - they have to merge after equalization. There is a 30 page thread in the M3/M4 section.

Milltek have an M2C version ready for release shortly, here's a clip. Cant wait to get one installed

That's exactly what I meant though. I didn't mean true dual all the way out the back, that would sound even weirder. Simply meant that it was dual until the muffler, whether that be stock or aftermarket.

For those interested in how this looks, take a peek at the thread below and note the weird loop near the diff. That is making up for the DP length differences. Not saying that's how AA and Miltek will be addressing it, but just rather one approach.

Think we're about to see a few more exhaust options popping up in the Bimmerpost used marketplace once these new equal length offerings drop

After following this since last year, I've had my own equal length made up locally.

It really does change the whole sound. Sounds more like my old 335i, which is great. Deeper, rises with revs, hard to describe really.

It's a bit too loud for me with valves open, so I programmed them shut in efficient and sport for now.

Happy it cost me just £275. Still a work in progress. As it's cheap it leaves cash to experiment a bit more

You have a welder mess with the Stock exhaust? Curious how you had this done, and so cheap

That is interesting. Why would the exhaust be louder if all the way changed is length? Looks like everything else remains, no?

Is the equal length piping just the backbox exhaust / catback exhaust up till OPF or are you forced to pair it with the mid-pipe?

I'm confused

The Milltek version is OPF back or Catback for US cars, doesn't interfere with emissions. The Milltek version equalizes the lengths before the muffler where they merge, other designs on the F80 merge before the muffler. The effect appears to be similar.

OPF back is not the same as cat back for US I thought? OPF is in the place of our secondary cats, so it essentially goes from the brace to the back of the car. A true cat back would replace the secondary cats and/or the OPF stuff, correct?

My understanding is Cat back/OPF exhausts by definition only affect downstream of the emissions equipment. It may delete part of the mid-pipe which includes resonators for example, which is where it differs from an 'axel back' or muffler.
