Anyone considering PPF on their doors? I wonder not just about rock chips, but from every day kinds of things (close quarters in garage, something/someone rubbing against door by accident, door dings, etc).

I am 100% getting my doors wrapped on my next car. My passenger door got hit with 2 rocks while driving in the fast lane on the freeway. My only concern is door dings as I use a PDR at least once or twice in the lifetime of the car so it would be a complete waste if I had to reapply PPF each time. I have never had a car with no door dings no matter how far away I park.

You can PDR through PPF.

I was quoted $375 per door, but in the big picture it's not bad. I'm just inching closer to, 'might as well get the whole car done' threshold as I add more though.

Thanks! I can't wait (even if I'll have to wait a couple of extra days for PPF when it arrives)!

Good to know! Totally worth it then.

You and me both! Just got my VIN today. Off the production line on Week 7 I think.

Awesome and congrats!

I think mine is in that same timeframe (around 14 FEB or so). It's quite exciting.

You see any updates on yours? My car is supposed to have completed the build process this week, but the tracking tool still shows it has 'entered the production queue." Can anyone else say if that tool is very accurate/up to date?

Nope-- I've been showing "Production Begins" for a fair while now.

The car is supposed to have been completed Week 7-- which is pretty much now.

Personally? I'm blaming the coronavirus!

I just check it once a day (or maybe twice), and move on-- it'll show up here..... eventually.

It isn't very accurate. According to that thing, my SO's incoming 530e spent a week in the paint booth and then was magically at the port waiting for a ship.

You need to let that SO paint cure a little longer.

I wasn't planning on painting my SO, but if I did, Sunset Orange would be an interesting choice. :-)

You say "not very accurate"-- I say "frelling useless".

Why even bother if it's *that* bad?

A day or two delay I can see. A week or two?

Worthless.

It's like they took a page out of the US Post Office's tracking system manual.

So I checked today and it updated to "Entering Assembly Line" which follows exterior body assembly and paint booth!

It doesn't show 'Assembly in Progress' yet, which is kind of surprising given that it was supposed to be completed this week.

Whoo Hoo! My car now says "Entered the Assembly Line"-- I checked after I saw your post.

The car was supposed to be a Week 7 Completion build, so maybe they're a bit slow....... too much German bier?

Our cars must be brothers lol

Maybe the tracking is still grossly behind? I'm going to keep checking it over the next couple of days.

Now it's in 'Quality Check.' It says there is a step beyond that that is 'Final Assembly.' Anyone know what that is since they've already done the Quality Check at that point?
