Yeah, I'll post at lunch when I take her out. Hopefully I can capture in pictures

Does anyone know of any vendor who makes wet carbon fiber similar to the m3/4 in m2 sizes?

Here we go. You can see the weave is not tight, almost lifting/loose in places. Is this how everyone's appears? Notice how the door handles seem much tighter. Thanks!

This is exactly how mine is, and how all other M2C's I saw are. The carbon doesn't have resin on it, so it's essentially raw carbon. I can take pictures of mine if you'd like to see a comparison, but it's very very similar.

Yes please, that would be great. The portion next to the idrive knob is more representative of the dash trim. It annoys me as I'm anal about these things

Mine looks like yours, there are spots where it's not perfectly "flush"

Ok, thanks. I just wonder if in the long-term if it will deteriorate further? Things only get looser and worse over time.

I've been wondering that too. I think the i8 was the first vehicle to get the "dry carbon" interior and those have been around for a while, but it's doubtful people are driving them every day.

Edit: started a thread in the i8 forums asking them about it.

Mine does, and and all the M2s with dry carbon fiber I have been in have it to. My wife has a textile manufacturing engineering degree, and according to her, weaved dry carbon fiber without some resin pressure curing is almost impossible to get purely flat especially on molded parts. Always find it interesting that when it comes to manufacturing we are haven't perfected some versions of things like we have others.

I would give anything to swap out the piano black for a matte option

Good input, and what does your wife think about the long-term look of the CF? I keep my cars for many years, so am a bit concerned. Once exposed to the elements, will the CF weave get worse?

Thanks!

As long as you maintain it and don't spill unnecessary liquids on it or purposely pick at it, it should last forever with no apparent fading.

I vacuum mine, then I go over it with a damp micro fiber cloth.
