He mentioned the engine in the regular M2 no longer met regulations. Any idea what it wasn't in compliance with?

The stricter Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicle Test Procedure (WLTP) which goes into effect this year in Europe.

After debating for months about what todo at the end of my 235 lease and knowing this was coming out I decided to go M3. My dad has an M2 (pre LCI) and its just brilliant. I cant get over how amazing that car is. My 235 was a phenomenal car too but it lacks that "punch" when your coming out of a turn and floor it.

Im starting to second guess my decision to go M3. maybe its because every new car gets glowing reviews from the press. Im really curious to know what true enthusiast think. I would also love a video comparing the M2 and M2c back to back.

To be honest, those that have a regular M2 will see a slight drop in value but I think time will tell what will be more desirable. the S55 engine has been very controversial. Its the one thing that held me back from the M3/4 for so long..the engine just sounds terrible...Putting an Akrapovic exhaust on is still just putting lipstick on a pig..And NO CAR should have to have a a ~6k exhaust to sound good.

I guess I can stick to my order and if I hate it order a M2c when the dust settles a little bit. I believe this car is in production until 2020?

Of course, it is not fair to compare a spanking new car with a used one. The list of used cars to buy from a value standpoint is a long one.
Well, except that the M4 is a better performance per value and same engine!

Basically a very positive review. He tells various reasons why this is the best M in the lineup at all.

Just watch how he does the track laps. No need to understand german, just watch his face and listen to his noises.

Youtube has translated subtitles. Not perfect but it works. Agree the guy is quite amusing.

Not afraid to admit it; I enjoyed the video. That guy was having some serious fun in the car. Hard to fake that level of emotion.

I went to sebring in the middle of summer with an ess tune and a stock heat exchanger and beat it around all day in sub 2:30 lap times and never once did the car pull any power. I even got out of the car after a full session and put my hand on the heat exchanger and it was almost cool to the touch. The stock cooling system is fantastic and I wouldn't start changing it because some guy on the internet or a shop told you to. One thing I would suggest from personal experience is brake cooling ducts. They made an incredible difference for very little money.

I'm not so sure about that....I think ///M is still licking their wounds on the F8x....Not only have they been crucified on the S55 engine and exhaust note but also the M3/4 not being true to their name. They brought out the Comp package and that helped but didn't help the image of ///M. Now we have the CS and the GTS. The jury is still out on if the CS is that much better then the ZCP package. I think the M3/4 F8x generation is just a broken generation.

Remember the M2 was never supposed to happen. Given the success and positive reviews of the 2 series and the 235 they finally made us one after customer demand. Remember 3 years ago when the M2 came out? Wild success and glowing press reviews. Something I think not only woke BMW up but ///M up. Hell we just saw late last week BMW is still committed to manuals as long as the take rate stays strong...given the opportunity I think ///M finally listened and made the M2 what it should have been. (I blame the bean counters for neutering the M2 the first go around)

Too many of the bean counters and execs had their hand in the pot with the F8x.....the M2 competition is finally ///M saying they learned and they are listening and they still have it in them to make cars WE WANT.

What Sports Sedan would you buy over an F80?
Better yet, with a 6MT?

See my signature!

I've fallen into the exact category that BMW created. I think the F8x had too much F30 and "surveys" put towards it. I'm not denying the performance aspects of the M3/4 because they are there but you also can't deny the fact the F8x has been very controversial. I think everyone agrees the performance is mostly there, but they dropped the ball and the M2c is M saying to the world "they can still make a car"

I'm deciding on a winter car/daily driver and it's between the M2C or a used M4... I believe M2C lends itself better for winter driving
