Did it really lock up after a text message?

It did, sort of. No audio multiple times after receiving text messages (CarPlay) on a long road trip. Super frustrating. The bugs here and there during daily driving weren't so bad. On a long trip, they were awful. I hated the car. Hopefully, this fixes it. Other issues were navigation not stopping navigating and iDrive freezing after phone calls.

Has anyone seen a list of changes between latest and previous software versions?
I picked up a low mileage 2017 (build date 05/2017) and I'm pretty happy with the way it drives but I'd like to know if I'm missing out on anything.

I have a 11/2017 build date 2018 LCI and I saw 3 main difference.

- Corrected blutooth connection problem

- Much more loose/forgiving MDM/Traction mode

- DCT shifting is smoother

Oh sweet, thanks. I'm gonna try to get the dealer to give me a reflash next time I'm in. I could use a bit more aggressive MDM.

After update, when I switch to sport display from CarPlay it would revert back to CarPlay. Anyone else experienced it?

I have a 2017 M2 built in October of 2016.

I haven't had my istep updated by the dealer since November 2017. I'm going to ask the dealer to update.

Sounds like no new DME changes, but I can expect better steering, MDM, bluetooth, iDrive and CarPlay? Anything else that I missed? Thanks!

I've asked my dealer to do this and they basically refused saying BMW does not recommend doing this unless something is wrong.....

So does anyone know what los angeles dealerships will do it without giving me a hassle, OR what should I complain about to get them to do it?

I emailed my SA a photo of iDrive showing 'no display' on the screen to get the istep update done. I believe photo's posted by another member in this thread or the other istep thread.

Hey guys! Not an M2 driver but I just went to the dealer for some BT connectivity and iDrive issues and they updated my I-Step as well as per SIB 84 08 18 on the paperwork. Are there any changes I should be looking out for? I'm curious if there is a changelog anywhere...

Hello, i have 2017 March build M2 pre LCi,

i would like to install the F87CS steering and possibly upgrade to the latest ISTEP,

my worries are,

it will mess up my car
the sound out the back will be affected by the changes, less pops and bangs.

can anyone please confirm or explain what the latest ISTEP actually does? if someone could let me know this info im a bit of a noob when it comes to this it would really put my mind at ease before doing anything like this.

cheers

I unfortunately lost some of burbles with an update. It's been a while since that update and what I've noticed is that the burbles are louder in sport vs sport plus! Go figure.
I'm no longer stressing about it cause eventually I will go with a bm3 tune...which will allow me to dial in whatever level of burbles/pops I want.

My17 July 2016 build.

Heh, funny video. Yes, Bimmercode can get a bit frustrating but it always creates a backup so it's easy to go back if something doesn't code properly.
I got it mainly to disable ASD

I was also afraid of losing the burbles. Yes there was an DME update.
Burbles are the same. I have MPE + sportcat.
Steering is better. Car shift much earlier in auto, same in manual.
Traction and sport plus interrupted later then before.

ok wonderful, could you tell me the variant that you got your car upgraded to? and also if the dealer did it or someone coded it?

i just spoke to my dealer and he said no problem he said its still the original software so he said it would be better to update it anyway at my request if i wish,

i too have a sport cat and MPE
