If the vehicle is not tuned and your on down pipes if the vehicle throws a malfunction code that is definitely gonna be due to fuel cut since the vehicle is over boosting due to the excess amount boost cause by not having the back pressure of the cats that where originally on the vehicle. You can definitely over boost and blow the engine if your running down pipes and the vehicle fuel trims not being adjusted to that setting. The vehicle may act haywire due to the excess amount of fuel mixtures due to cats missing’”

Your thoughts?!
Service advisors are NOT engineers (software or hardware) and they do not know how the the ECU is programmed...

Fuel cut....due to over boosting...due to the lack of back pressure...

Istep updated - pre-LCI DCT UK car

Car went in for a I-drive random fault and loss of some CP functionality with iOS 12.

Latest integration FW (aka I-step) updated - I-drive / CP gremilns fixed but too cold to hoon the car to see what else has changed.

Allegedly, this update re- calibrates ePAS/DSC/M-diff [a la M2Comp perhaps ?] and N55 DME and DCT module both get "refreshed" plus - perhaps the biggest win for me - the PDC beeps switch off as soon as you take it out of reverse......

My ePAS already feels fairly "meaty" - my pre LCI DCT car has MP coilovers and -30min camber correction hubs. Drive to work - after picking it this morning - was too cold/short/mundane to comment further just yet, other than to say Idrive & CP functionality - big

Interesting - which M2 do you have pre-LCI/LCI or M2Comp ?

Either way - yours is a later I-step than mine [O18184I] - my initial findings:-

DCT - in all modes DCT feels smoother and quicker. Comfort gear changes are pretty much undetectable!

Throttle mapping - in comfort is much better than before - feels more MDM mode TBH, which I really like. Possibly placebo but it does feel more urgent low to mid range in comfort/MDM/both sport modes and DSC off.

Exhaust - overrun burbles - sound about the same but not a fan of pistol cracking / popcorn backfires TBH. MPE sounds mellower but fruitier in sport plus / track mode ie valves open.

PDC - reverse beep continues after deselecting reverse - still there !!!!

Mine as well. It was the only way I knew they did the update (aside from all my settings were reset) since my nav revision still said has the same NBT number before I dropped her off.

Update

- ePAS - comfort mode - seems like it has a tad more feel - no bad thing in my book. Sport modes - no discernible difference

- Throttle/DCT - step off from standstill in comfort is much better than it was - comfort used to feel a little too much like eco-pro in my m135i - so hardly ever used it - now its way better - just as well TBH as MDM/Sport+ or DSC not the best as we head towards winter !

- Improved engine note - the more I think about this, I think it's more likely ASD related but I will be installing ASD bypass harness soon enough so maybe not relevant.

- Seems to have added urgency getting to red line and sounds better too but again could be placebo - either way no complaints given that it was FoC.....

- MDM - Whilst I like new comfort mode (feels like MDM before update) but loving new MDM - feels more akin to sport + wo the annoying extra ASD.

BP,

Had the F87CS EPS coded this last week. Really happy with the result. Lighter than original with the same feel as updated but without the awful artificial weighting off centre. Very linear and natural feeling.

@Japper69

What ISTEP are you on?

I am running F020-18-11-520 on a LCI 18' M2 - I used the error in the idrive screenshot to have the dealer update it for free.

The only steering options in my drop down are the following with no F87CS option. I wonder why I don't have the F87CS steering option?

F87
F80

NBT Evo unit showing P183621. I don’t have access to see individual control unit update but the guy who coded steering said that all istep levels were up to date.

I am also on nav p_183621, but I don't think anyone has demonstrated that the nav version correlates to a specific istep number.

Does anyone else have istep F020-18-11-520 or greater and no longer see the F87CS steering option? I have a theory that it has merged with the F87 steering code and now anyone who updates their OG M2 will have the same steering program as the CS.

Or they pulled it out and it's only on s55 m2 updates going forward.

For real? Is that the F87CS? I can't recall but is it there for the MDM as well?

Updated from NBTevo_M17365I to NBTevo_P18362I today. The car feels better. Steering is definitely improved, and I wouldn't doubt that some of the other things noted previously are contributing to the overall improvement. The reverse chime is gone, too! Mine is a manual LCI. From my invoice:

"OPCODE 6100730 Programming\Encoding Control Units - No Charge
...
Client states that the iDrive screen locks up after receiving a text message, and no inputs can be made. Complete vehicle turn off cancels this.
...
Cause: SIB 84 08 18"
