What is that $26,000?
A custom/individual OEM Austin Yellow paint job on an M2..

https://www.bmwblog.com/2017/03/24/m...priced-100000/
But the paint is listed at around $12,000 at the top.

I can't remember the exact details but I remember that dude spent some absurd amount for a custom paint job.. Either 25 to 50k USD..

I assume it was $26,000 based on the individual option available.

That looks and is priced like a wrap + looks as if the wrap loosened at the rear wheel fender - right hand side. The Austin Yellow M2 was a real paint job.

See post #57 of this thread here.

And the car does not feature the M Driver's Package (option 7ME), so a V-max of 250 km/h (155mph) instead of 270 km/h (168mph), so it's not full option.

Glass sliding roof was not available on the US-spec M2 back then (unlike the EURO-spec M2) and Apple CarPlay was unavailable on any M2 worldwide yet.

It sort of looks like paint to me. I zoomed in on the photo (enhance.... enhance... enhance) and it looks like it’s matte paint with the stock glossy piece of ppf that is added to the fender by the factory. I suspect if it’s wrapped, you wouldn’t add glossy ppf there.

Could be wrong though.

You could be right. I checked the ad (see here). It says: "Individual Lackierung ab Werk in Frozen Dark Grey Metallic" (= "Individual paint from factory in Frozen Dark Grey Metallic").

About Individual paint one-offs on M2C, see also this dedicated thread + my edit references in the first post here.

Good find. Terrible colour. Can't see anyone paying that amount of coin just for that factory paint job.

Notice that the owner probably traded it in for a McLaren. Don't know why the M2 was never driven as M2's are not that special or mile conscious.

He's just a collector, not an enthusiast who thrashes on his cars, racking up miles. Also, when you have like 50+ cars to choose from each morning (most of which are super high end) are you gonna choose to drive a Ferrari or on a Bimmer? Probably neither actually. You get in your boat/helicopter.
