Unplugging the fuse doesnt work with entire 2 series line, not just the M2 if you want to still hear your radio. Strange, but true.. It is what it is.

Active sound failed or something else perhaps?

Ok. Just got in the car and turned the engine on. Oh my god, what a noise. It sounds like a speaker under the centre console/passenger seat started making the most horrendous sound. Listen to the video. Any suggestions folks? Even with engine and ignition off it carries on and when doors are locked too !! Eventually, it dies out on its own after a few minutes. Started the car again and it did it again. Is this something to do with the active sound failing? Thanks.

Park it for an hour and try again, if that doesn't fix it the amp is fried.

Will try that. Thanks. Is it a big job to replace. Will BMW need the car for long?

Not a big job at all to replace, you can wait for the car. Couple of hours max.
Question is whether it's in stock or not, might have to be ordered.

Thanks for the advice. Local dealers can't even look at the car for at least a week, then they'd need to order parts. Not impressed given its a warranty fault. I would have thought they should take it in straight away?

They suggested I call BMW Assist instead. They have been out this morning and deemed it an electrical fault covered under warranty so they are recovering the car to the local dealer to get it repaired within 3 days. Loan car being delivered this afternoon. Overall so far very impressed with BMW Assist, they have handled it very well. Fingers crossed they can repair quickly and get the car back to me this week.

If it's just the amp and/or the ASD unit, the whole job would take about a half hour. Very easy to get at and swap.

ASD and Bimmercode

How do I turn ASD back on after disabling it in Bimmercode?

Why would you want to. ASD is so obnoxious.

You have to restore the settings from the backup that Bimmercode saved within the app.

I did the restore but ASD still didn't come back on even though it showed unassigned value checked. Looks like you can disable it but doesn't work to enable by restoring a backup. Thoughts?

You might try esys which is BMW programming software - it connects through your laptop's USB port to the OBDII port on the car. Or, you could always just ask your dealer to plug it into their computer and reset the ASD.

BM3 and ASD driving me nuts!

Let me start by saying I really like BM3 as a tune and run the Stage 2, 91 octane. It adds strong and smooth power to the car. However, there is one thing that I just can't seem to figure out that drives me nuts. When I first flashed the car, ASD was enabled and burbles worked fine. I tried disabling ASD to see what it was like but as soon as I went back to enabling ASD burbles were gone. At some point, I flashed back to stock and relocked the DME for a service run. After that, I flashed to Stage 2 again and bingo burbles worked WITH ASD enabled. I then tried disabling ASD through Bimmercode to see if I could enable it again that route and keep burbles, but I actually couldn't get ASD to work again through Bimmercode. So I did what worked last time and flashed back to stock, locked the DME and then flashed again to Stage 2. This time burbles are gone again with ASD enabled.

Why won't burbles work with ASD enabled!?! I just don't understand it, particularly because they do work sometimes after flashing back to stock and then flashing again but this time it didn't work.

@Halim@HCP, what's the fix for this? I really like this tune except for the fact that I can't keep burbles if I play with ASD. I know some of you hate ASD but I like to go between having it enabled and disabled but I always want burbles. Any thoughts??

burbles and ASD did work the first time, and the time you flashed after relocking your DME, yet you went ahead and turned ASD off again a second time.

At this point maybe you should get the ASD harness so you can turn it on an off without messing with any software.

Problem is not turning it on and off since I can do that with BM3. Issue is losing the burbles when enabled and I don't think the harness will fix that since the burbles aren't working when it's enabled. Am I missing something with the harness?

The apps says if you want burbles it needs to be disabled via coding. I have ASD disabled by harness so idc about the coding.

Get a downpipe if you want to hear your exhaust in the cabin.

Yeah, have a downpipe already. Guess I'll just have to stock with ASD disabled if I want burbles. Hopefully PTF can fix this in a future update.

He ment that it is better for you to „play" with ASD by using the harness to disable it and remove the harness again to reenable it. This of course assumes that you first can fix it at least one more time.

Or I am completely mistaken...

P.S. i have a brand new/unused technics pnp ASD bypass harness if someone is interested

Yes, they just say it doesn't have anything to do with the tune which makes no sense since it only happens with the tune. Basically said it can't be fixed.
