IDrive 6 on 2020 M2C-
Hi guys-
Anyone noticed in the iDrive 6. When you are going through the screens. It's showing a 2 series BMW and not an M2. |

Yes, I noticed the same thing just yesterday actually. Thought maybe something was wrong, but sounds like that's just the way it is. Would be nice if it were a M2C.

Yes it's always been like this. There is no M2 specific animation for the iDrive system. Quite annoying but I've gotten over it over the course of ownership.
IIRC this is how it is for all model series. BMW just uses uses the base model for representing each series designation. |

Has anyone tried BimmerCode App? I heard this app can change a lot of settings on the car.
Mike power folding your side mirrors when you lock the car. But I have been reading that the OB port is locked? |

I programmed the "i" soundpack, unlock on engine off, mirror fold on lock/unlock, removed 50mi gas warning and stopped the stupid caution screen at startup. The locked ECU for remapping is different than coding iDrive. |

It's the same thing for the M3 and M4 shows the base 3 and 4 series. No way to change unless you want to design it yourself, somehow get into the code, then upload your design file, and figure out a way to show it. So.... no way to change it.

Sometimes I wonder if new GT3 owners have base Carrera visualizations on their infotainment screens. That would be truly terrible lol. Quote:
What I'd REALLY love is if all M's not only showed the specific M you're driving (M2/3/4/5/8) but the COLOR of your car on the screen. |

I don't get BMW being lazy to create custom profiles for the M cars. I have a 2020 530e loaner and in iDrive 7 it shows the correct version you have. Also has lots of other cool stuff- led piping through out the interior also massaging seats. Would have made the M cars feel more special with seeing your driver profile show the correct car.

My favorite screen is the efficiency dynamic screen or whatever. I find it hilarious that my 17 mpg getting M2 has a screen that's clearly designed to show energy usage in a hybrid. It has beautiful, fancy graphics all for the purpose of telling me
1. Power is going from my engine/transmission to the rear wheels and 2. My battery is being charged by the alternator. Yay. Thanks for that BMW. |

Idrive 6 and below has one generic car icon to identify the model of vehicle.
However, for iDrive 7, they did designed and hardcoded the the specific type and even options (fogs, wheels, seat color, ect) tailored to each vehicle, individually . I thought that was a cool attention to detail for the newer interface. |
