I know what I think, from a design standpoint, the Honda Civic looks like a steaming turd!

I love the type r so much that Im planning to jump back for the 2020 model. The honda is more useable and has higher cornering speeds.

Savage!!!

These guys did a good job in this video. I was about to rage when they were drifting the M2 assuming they were going to record that lap but no they did it properly.

Two cars that would never be cross-shopped...

A FWD 'Honda' being within a second of an M2C..

I can only wonder how a vanilla M2 would compare...?

Resale and reliability will favor the Honda, not to mention the cost of ownership being dramatically less than most any BMW, seems like a pretty solid car for the money.

Unless you're a badge whore, the CTR is a real threat.

Why not? People who desire performance don't buy on badge alone.

Can't wait for their next review: M2 Competition vs. a Jeep Wrangler! Because anything to pump out as much content as possible!

You have no idea how wrong you are

As a former owner of an e90 M3, F10 M5, and F82M4 I can tell you that CTR is one of the best vehicles available today. I sold my M4 to buy the Civic. I briefly considered selling the CTR for an M3CS or a 911T (I have car ADD). After driving them back to back the CTR is just as quick on the street and way more enjoyable to drive.

The CTR was also the Evo 2018 Track Car of the Year even taking down the McLaren 570S among others (the GT3 was the real winner, but since it was not "really" available at the time they disqualified it). There is a reason CTR's are still going for over sticker price. Say whatever you want about looks, it just shows you are the new target market for the M division. Looks over function, badge over performance. BMW (and other brands like Porsche and Mercedes) have gotten their asses kicked by the likes of Chevrolet with the Z28/ZL1 1LE, Honda with the Civic Type R, etc. The good thing from this is that they have been forced to respond with cars like the new F90 M5 which is a fantastic drivers car. Still too isolated for me (thought about buying one for my wife), but way better than my F10 was.

Let's just have a look here at this. Honda simply just sounds terrible, it is a reminder of a civic and vtec. End of day its a Honda.

BMW unless you owned a real M car the M-performance is not what I would call an M-car. Two different types of car even w heavy mods it cannot be had.

1 second a lap is pretty big for a short track. Do 10 laps and the gap will be even bigger. S55 is a pretty amazing motor and the M2 should be used w a DCT along w the Honda that would give true test. Manual is simply outdated.

Anyhow, No chance I would drop 45 K on a Honda. There are way better used track cars for the money. Only My opinion.

wait.. thats not jakub and yuri...

both are great cars but the CTR is a bit too loud in the styling department for me. if they offered a toned down less boy racer look id be game.

LOL honda so cheated on their time. Even the regular M2 murders the CTR in every lap comparo at different tracks. Ring is a high speed track which will favor the M2 even more, let alone an M2C

Agree with you on the sound part. Stock it just sucks and there are several other things where the Civic shows it's roots. Also the Civic only comes as a manual.

From a track time perspective on the Ring the M2C posted a 7:50 while the CTR was a 7:43. The F80 M3 was also slower until the CS was released. In the real world with real drivers there are VERY few cars that can keep up, let alone run away from the Civic.

They didn't cheat. They conveniently don't mention it was a pre-production car (who knows how much power it was really making) with a stripped interior and Sport Cup 2 tires.
