Washington Front Plates Law
Hey guys,
My car is at the dealership pending some M Package install. I noticed that there were no front plate bracket when I came by to do the paperwork. Are you guys running with front plates? If not, is it legal for us to do so? -Thanks |

Washington law requires a front plate. Some can go years with no plate and not get busted, others can get busted 2-3 times in 6 months. Currently, it's a $124 ticket, I believe.

As stated, it is illegal to go without a front plate. You may never encounter an issue without a plate but you could be pulled over for no reason other than plate or ticketed while parking with no plate. I haven't had a front plate in 4 years now and only had one issue: pulled over in my E90 M3 by state patrol on I-5 south in no man's land just so he could bother me about the plate. Sheesh.
