Same thing here, just after I bought mine two months back, the price of the M2 went further up.

Selling it now, I can make money out of it. But....what to replace it with? Been an absolute a joy to drive this machine.

I am currently looking at a '17 OG M2 is Long beach Blue; has 21000 mi roughly and is going for 49k OTD. Wondering if it's a good deal? Also has the executive package but the dealer isn't negotiable at all on the price. Carfax checked out and was a 2 owner car, just kind of weird justifying 50k on a 3-4yr old car

Depends if you want to wait for the market to cool or if you want the car now. Compare the price before covid to now and see what the diff is. Adjust for inflation.

I'd feel the same way 40-45k is more reasonable

I just ran a carvana trade in on my 2017 that has 10k miles and they offered me $47k. And that doesn't take into account the car having CF spoiler, diffuser, mirror caps and MPE installed at port. Agree prices are insane but I feel the same way when I see 20 year old cars going for 60% of their original msrp.

My sentiments are the car will more than likely be 5 years old by the time a "new normal" sets in. I have yet to see new g80s in the wild yet. Hard to see prices moving downward in the near term

'17's hit dealer q4 of 2016 so many are already 5+ years old. You are bound to find a slightly better deal if you went private and a higher mileage example.

Nice. I'm regretting not buying an M2C over an LCI, the better steering calibrations alone are worth their weight in gold over this thing.

What's the date on your data point? This is the most important bit. What someone is willing to pay in 2020 vs 2022 is a very different calculus as the market conditions have changed drastically.

Steering, MDM, and rear diff software updates are available. The first two represented major upgrades for my 17. Do it.

The question is never, what can you sell your car for but rather what can you replace it with at a comparable price? Good luck w that one...

Supra is the answer. Fun car for track work. I know a number of autox and time trial folks who have them and I'm genuinely considering trading into one. VS the OG I think they're about equal for autox, but I think Supra is much better on track. In theory I'd miss 3 pedals on the street... but I don't have that much fun driving the M2 on the street anyway. I would miss being able to fit 4 tires in it though...

Not everyone can have a 2 seat car... this why in all honestly even tho these are competitors, they are not exactly substitutes for most people. I couldn't imagine having the Supra as my only car.

I've not had a problem, but I'm just under 6ft and longer of leg?

Yeah, I totally get that. The versatility of the extra space is super nice and the car drives as comfortable as any regular BMW unless you're on a totally crap road. I'm a corner case because in 1 year I put about 2k miles of normal street driving on mine, but more than 6k driving to/from events. Then again maybe I'd put more street miles on it if it drove less politely and had more of a sense of occasion.

But if I owned a Supra at least 4k+ of that mileage would've involved pulling a tire trailer which isn't ideal. There is no perfect car

I can't believe the disparity between years and miles. Mines a 16 with 73k and I've only been offered sub 30k.

Good news is you have been able to enjoy it for those 70k+ miles. My job is only 4 miles from home which is still 30 mins in LA plus with 2 kids the X5 is the choice most of the time. Just waiting to get an allocation on the m3 and the m2 will have to go.
