Remus Exhaust - Questions Please!
Hi folks - got my M2C few days ago and I'm already looking at exhaust options! Just a few questions as I'm still learning!
1. What's the difference between Remus Race vs Sport exhaust? 2. Do I need a tune or do you recommend a tune to run a Remus exhaust coupled with AA midpipes? My understanding is that AA midpipes will remove secondary cats, is that correct? Can I still pass emissions with this setup? 3. Will I still get a CEL if I install AA midpipes, but still keep primary cats (stock downpipes) intact? I believe there are 2 cats on this car? 4. Now, after all of this, if I decide to get catless downpipes, how loud do you think my car will be? full setup as in catless DP + AA midpipes + Remus axlebacks. 5. What is your overall opinion of the Remus exhaust + AA mid pipes setup? Thanks in advance! Zentan |

1. Remus race produces a bit more sound compared to the Sport version. Also race is slightly lighter in terms of weight (has the two tube muffler design vs the box that the sport does). There's been a few people who have had both and posted reviews on both, so I would look for those threads.
2) No tune needed. And you will remove resonator and secondary cats with the AA mid pipe. The mid pipe acts kind of like a giant resonator itself and with the primary cats intact, you should still be able to pass emissions (I have not checked yet personally, we're exempt for two years here if we have a new car). 3) No CEL. 4) Catless DP from reviews sounds like you will have about a 30% increase in sound from stock pipes.. However there are reviews saying catless will ruin the sound and induce rasp back into your AA mid and Remus rear set up. Personally, I think the car is plenty loud with OEM DP + AA mid + Remus rear already compared to the stock set up and I would recommend going that route first and maybe doing catless afterwards instead of all at once. 5) Efficient mode in AA mid and Remus race is like stock. Just as quiet, pretty incognito, no burbles, no real increase in volume.. Sport+, the exhaust turns into beast mode. Burbles are more pronounced.. you will hear all the burbles now... The over run is pretty long. Cold starts are really loud now. The BRAAP noise is LOUD... in tunnels it will hurt your ears if your windows are even cracked . 5k+ RPM, the exhaust will wail/scream. That "lawn mower" sound is minimized and the overall exhaust tone is deeper and louder. Honestly it's the Jekyll and Hyde of exhausts when you compare efficient and sport+. Also butt dyno felt a small increase in power. No drone as well. Overall, really happy with the exhaust combo. Last edited by hlm2c; 03-22-2020 at 02:40 AM.. |

I just installed Remus Race and AA Mid. The cold start is loud. No doubt about it, just ask my neighbors! Honestly, a bit too loud for me (Cold Start). There is a drone if you are at constant cruise or normal acceleration from about 2700 to 3200 RPM. It diminishes a bit in efficient but not a ton.
I do love the sound on the road, though. You may want to try AA mid with factory box first then add Remus later. That would mean you'd have to cut OEM pipes. Unless you are going for the louder. This setup with catless or even high-flo cats would be over the top for me. I am considering adding a high-flow cat to the AA mid to tone it down some. Probably should have done Remus Sport. |

I Have the Wagner HFC's with a AA Midpipe and OEM axleback.
Its about 40% louder than stock with flaps open in Sport, or Sport +. I wouldn't want to go any louder

I have the remus sport with AA midpipe and love it. The sport has a larger central silencer and also two small resonators on the bypass pipes.... that is in contrast to the Race which has a much smaller central silencer and no resonators on the bypass pipes.
Take a look at this picture and you will see what I mean: Remus customer service is excellent too! I am having a small issue with one of the valves, and they are taking amazing and prompt care of me. Would not hesitate to do business with them again.
