Most likely... You'll just have to wait till BM3 finds a way around for the OBD unlock. However, if you really want BM3 and don't want to wait, you can still get a bench unlock/flash, which requires the DME to be physically removed.

I believe this still won't work until the DME is flashed back to the previous version.

Thank you for reaching out to us, as well for your interest in bootmod3. BMW has added new security for the software March 2019+. It is giving all flash tuners a bit of trouble, but we are working on solving the issue. We will make an announcement to everyone when this has been resolved. |

Attempting to break encryption is futile, usually exploits are a better way, 0day's. BMW can just re-key new DME's from factory, and actually all DME's have its own unique private key.

May be...depending on the algorithm used I guess and they may not even know which algorithm at this stage. This expertise lies totally outside the domain of engine tuning so I would say some other resources would be required to crack the DME...long wait is my guess

Posted this in another thread then saw this one and thought may be a better place. Sorry for duplicate.
Does anybody know from what production date bmw will have this latest istep / dme update that has closed off flash tuning options? My m2c left Antwerp on 27th Feb and build date was 8th Feb (according to vin check). So the software / DME stuff would have been done sometime within that time period. Taking delivery in 3-4 weeks so I guess I won't know for sure until I get it and check |

I had told myself to keep the car stock for 12 months so hopefully a workaround is discovered before then! |

Just wanted to add that I had my run-in service about 3 weeks ago and my software wasn't updated. Put the CS tune on it without issue.

Definitely adds some added pep that I felt was missing. Tires are actually chirping all the time now. CS+ is what I'm graduating to next once weather gets warmer as that adds more boost up top over regular BMW CS map.
