Purchased - excited to give this a shot. If only I wasn't still doing the break-in miles.

Sorry if you've missed it or if we weren't clear but the issues with M2C "TCU" flash back to stock were resolved about 2 weeks ago (see earlier post above). No limp mode and OPF/PPF ones are sorted as well.

Only issue remaining is a visual gear indicator display when in normal mode. Due to the updated M2C dash it won't show but its there in manual shift mode. Its a visual/display issue which is resolved when flashed back to stock TCU software if needed. Otherwise no performance issues of any sort once flashed to GTS TCU programming.

Please feel free to email us at support@protuningfreaks.com at any time for any other questions
So, I successfully flashed the GTS TCU this morning and unfortunately: same issue as before happened: I can't rev the car past 3k and the manual mode doesn't work at all. Not any error messages thrown by the car however (which is different from what I remember from last time).

I'll create a ticket, but this is exactly why I wanted to be sure that it was fixed. Either I'm very unfortunate or...
I just hope no manual recoding is necessary this time around.

Well no gts issues for this random guy or any of his random buddies bm3 s55s. Pretty sure I wouldn't b running around stg2 with out the gts flash but seems like a lot of owners here don't desire stg2 power anyhow.

Took delivery in September. Build in August I believe.

According to the exchange I had last night with PTF, there was no apparent fault codes to link to limp mode (only shadow codes).
What I therfore did was:
  1. Clear said shadow codes through bootmod3
  2. Took the car for a drive (still in GTS mode), shut down the engine and restarted: resulted the car to go back into limp mode (and showing new shadow codes)
  3. Recleared all codes through bootmod3
  4. Reflashed to stock transmission
Car has been running ok today, no more transmission issues for the time being.
Engine tuning works great for me, so still happy with the power output and flexibility of BM3, but I'm not ever touching the transmission tuning anymore.
I'm happy to be called the exception here, but for my car this does not function.

Not sure if I will run into the same issue as mine is also Aug built...

Just coming across this thread for the first time, new here.

A lot of good information but seems like there are still some outstanding issues with the bootmod3 tunes from what I gather here.

Can someone who has knowledge on the complete subject here post what is advisible to DO and NOT to DO as far as the tuning options go with bootmod3?

My 2 cents. Most all who post on these and other forums have had some issue. Many times it seems self inflicted by not following directions
of course there have been exceptions to this.

It does seem the great silent majority is out enjoying their transformed high performance car. I’m a old gray headed guy & back in the day to gain anywhere close to 100 HP required at a minimum the heads to be reworked, different cams, huge fuel system modifications ....on and on. Often left with a car that fell somewhere between a streetcar and a dedicated track car/ toy, that suffered daily drivability.

I reckon you can tell by the tone of this post which side I fall on. Flash it already, and enjoy it. If however your scared to death of something bad occurring down the road to jeopardize your warranty.....leave it alone.

Amazing times we live in right now! So far I sleep like a baby at night. Most my worries are which tires to try next as this damn thing now EATS rear tires....

So... Just curious. I've been running CS+ the past month, but I'm thinking of going to stage 1. I already bought the NGK 97506 spark plugs and gapped them to 0.018" but I haven't installed them yet. Would this plug and gap be fine to run even if I went back to the stock map? Or should I gap them to 0.020" instead since I don't plan on running anything greater than a stage 1 map. Thanks!

Full support added including access to all of the S55 OTS maps that have been tested and refined through bootmod3 since 2015, now sitting at Version 8.5.

These maps are identical to the other S55 OTS maps and that includes the FREE CS, CSL and GTS maps as well which you can import in the editor and compare with your own stock M2 Competition map if you're inclined to see and learn about the difference factory takes in tuning, or should we say 'detuning', your S55 motor.

Any questions let us know, all the best
What are the major differences between the Stage 1 and and the CS and CS+ maps?

Any idea when the CS+ map will be finalized (taken out of beta)?

Thank you and keep up the great work!

You need to revert back to the previous Istep if your car got the DME software upgrade?

It was updated at the dealer. How can I back it up?

It seems you won't be able to flash the DME anymore with the current version of BM3 as BMW has changed coding in the Bootloader.

OFT found a way to get around it and have the ability to do OBD unlock on the latest software as they posted in thread you shared. It's just a matter of time for BM3 to crack it as well. In the meantime, no one should get their software updated at the dealer.
