Maybe that's the "air cargo-friendly" remote.

Thank you for the clarification!

I'd say 3400 +/- 50lbs is a reasonable estimate for a "loaded" DCT car. I'd also suspect the car has all engine/transmission fluids, though gas may be a toss up (you'd think there'd be some in the tank for transportation purposes...what are they going to do, tow it everywhere?).

Good luck on that. Since in 5 years from 1M to M2 the big change was to add blue ...ill bet that BMW gets around to that red for you sometime around the time the next M2 comes out.

If BMW AG wants to try and bring on some more nostalgia from the E30 M3 they should bring out the M2 CSL or GTS in Jet Black and Brilliant Red

I am assuming it ships with a near empty fuel tank. Does BMW issue weights with full fluids in their specs? Gas is about 6.5 lbs (a tick less, I believe) a gallon, that said, if this a 14 or so gallon tank, with a few gallons in (if only one), that'd make sense that the weight calculation is under 3200. I am also assuming the 650 is for certain on the shipping platform. I am very excited this car is this light!

The way the cars drives is more important than the numbers, but anyway don't get your hopes up that it will be under 3400 lbs even empty tank. The M235i is a porker for its size and BMW hasn't exactly indicated really anything in weight saving measures.

I'm 6'2" and fit very comfortably in the 2 Series. I drove the M235i and never felt cramped. To me it feels reminiscent of the E46 M3 from a size perspective.

Now a Mazda Miata feels cramped as hell for me.

Well, they have. Mr. Frank Isenberg told an Interviewer that they have thrown out sound deadening material in the engine bay ( engine hood and bulkhead to passenger's compartment) which comes down to 10kg weight savings. Every bit counts in large amounts...

Well, since the M235i with 8AT RWD and options is 3440lbs, there is really no way the M2 with DCT, extra cooling, larger diff etc can weigh less than that.

The Chinese BMW website lists weight including options because you cant buy a "no-options" M235i in China. Lots of options are selected by default, such as 8AT. Therefore the base versions here weigh more than in other markets:

This is the really point

This is why nowadays BMW can't do a solid product, because every conversation is about weight weight emissions weight emissions, all around of this lol

Less than 3,200 with DCT! Awesome news! The 6 spd should shave a few more pounds. That's not bad for a modern day sports coupe.

It has been stated earlier in this thread, but they issue weights with 90% fuel in the tanks, and otherwise all fluids and 75kg driver+luggage are included. And that's a base car, with no extras.
An since it seems to be agreed in this thread that this is a Euro-spec car with DCT it will weigh in at 1520kg with a 90% load of fuel. Because that is what BMW Germany states for the Euro spec cars. And they use real, certified scales. And they have to report the correct weight to the authorities. I know there's a lot of paranoid conspiracy theoretics around that thinks that car manufacturers mess around with weights as they like, but they don't.
So the only thing that remains to be discussed regards to weight on this particular car then is how much fuel is on board, and how much extra equipment does it have!
And by the way, the specific weight on petrol is 0,74kg/ltr, and the M2 can take 52 of those
