This is a light blue color. Look at the blue calipers which are a darker blue. Yes, this is a different hue than the turquoise it turns into in the light, but it is not dark at all, just a different hue. Both the blue and the turquoise blue it turns into are light colors.

The above is LBB but the outdoor pics are also LBB. It isn't a single hue, it is metallic and changes hues. Let's stop trying to pick the best representation for a color that is mutable.
I never claimed to be very bright and I probably do have a limited vocabulary

When I say "dark" or "darker", I'm referring to the photo in the very first post. That particular photo of LBB doesn't, in my limited experience with the color, represent it faithfully and is too "light" in tone and depth.

So, you are correct. LBB is not dark in the broader context. It is, in fact, a lighter blue. It is, however, darker than the very light teal in the first post even in bright sunlight, IMO.

Ok but comparing a picture outdoors is always going to yield a lighter shade. Between LBB and estoril, LBB is the brighter of the two blues. And yes LBB is as bright as the turquoise/teal color. Just because one facet is more blue (like with indoor lighting) doesn't mean that the color isn't turquoise in outdoor/yellow sunlight. LBB is all of those hues. One picture to represent this color is really hard to achieve.

My post showing the LBB samples was out in direct, bright sunshine and it was very unlike the OP's post. It was similar in the shade and indoors. It did have a teal tone to it but it was clearly very blue... even in direct, bright sunshine.

In any event, yes, this is a complex color Yes, it is a brighter blue The photos in post #43, #44 and below are all pretty similar (inside and outside shots) but the OP's picture is very different and, IMO, not attractive.

This is the picture I am referring to and it is in direct sun and, IMO, represents what my eyes were looking at...

Yes, that's what it looks like in real life. I agree. Some cameras, especially phone cameras, present a more teal base coat. I think this picture represents the base and how it looks in the sun much better. It is a turquoise blue, not teal. Maybe aqua would be a better descriptor.

I saw the car in slightly overcast lighting conditions in person and it looked very teal/green and not much blue. Maybe the blue shows up with direct light. It was pretty much the same IRL as the OP's cell phone camera pics on my IPS LCD monitor.

Any pics that don't have a shade of teal/green are inaccurate. My pics were taken in slightly overcast lighting, and appeared accurate to me after reviewing them while still looking at the actual car. A paint sample is not a good way to determine how color will look on a car (or anything) especially a picture of the paint sample.

Interesting. When I've seen the color it was shades of blue without much green. Maybe it just looks a lot different on the M2.

Agreed generally.

A couple of comments. I confirmed with a local X5M owner that his LBB vehicle looks the same as the picture above. He says it is a very close representation of the actual color. That picture looks, more or less, the same as the sample I had in my hand. Although the sample won't tell you how the colour will look at an entire car, it does give a sense of tone, depth, color, etc.

The only reason this is even a relevant discussion for some (me) is that I will need to pick a color before I see the car in person as I will have the first one in my city. That's both a blessing and a curse

If you have the means, please, please, PLEASE take some pics underneath the car just behind the front bumper. I'd really like to know if the M2 has an oil cooler located there like on the M4.

Well, EBII vs. LBB is not difficult to see the difference. If anyone can put Atlantis Blue next to LBB, that I'd like to see.

So now it turns out the M3 is toilet brush blue, the M4 is urine yellow and the M2 is traffic light green. Go figure.

So is progress.

LOL this particular m2 is a popular girl no doubt. I enjoy that she always seems to be parked at the same exact spot with various randoms stopping by to take a peek and snap some pics.

That being said, the pics are appreciated and this comparison is very nice. I personally prefer Estoril.

I repeatedly tried to like LBB, but still to date I can't. Sorry.

To my eyes LBB remains a bit hesitational, ambiguous, as if it can't choose what color it actually wants to be, shifting too hard under different light(ing) conditions.

Make it for example red or orange and we get a different story.

Somebody's got their snow tires on early! I still don't love the fangs on the M2 - M235 has a much cleaner front bumper.

I don't think the pictures in the beginning of the thread are too accurate, the color is not as green hued as they show.

Here are a few shots from my iPhone 6S taken recently in Germany. I think it is definitely in the same family as Atlantis Blue, but LBB is a vivid blue, whereas Atlantis has more of a green thing going on...

LBB really goes full retard in the sun!

Such a shame because it's amazing in low light.
