I do believe the lower price is driving sales. I'll readily admit I'm even drawn to the car because of its value.

Call me crazy but lets backtrack 10 years. 2006 we had the last e46 M3 and the new e60 M5.

The M3 wasn't a powerhouse and was cheaper. Turned out to be arguably the best M3 ever produced. The M5 had all the luxury one could ask for and a worthy engine to complete the entire package. These cars appealed to certain drivers and the community probably compared these two just like what is somewhat going on in this thread.

All in all, everyone has their own view of the M2 and M4 and in the end anyone that gets behind the wheel should have a smile on their face.

Cheers

M5 and M3 totally different cars and can't compare these two, same with the M2 and M3/4

Isn't the M3 still considered the "entry level M" until April 16th?

So really 141lb difference and that's with BMW using the lightweight battery trick on the M4. Throw one in the M2 and the difference is 200lbs. I don't know where people have been getting this 25lb stuff...
A lot of confusion arose from the various weights being released around the same.

All of them are likely correct, just different ways it was measured (with person, without person, fuel tank level, etc) based on different locations around the globe.

Good gifs. This really illustrates what I don't like about the 2, with the tall front and lower grills. Cars these days are already designed with raised proportions and high belt lines, and the grill dimensions just accentuate that even more.

Hey Paul this is awesome! Is there anyway you could do this with the M2 vs e92 M3? I'm curious in the differences between those two.

Pretty cool comparison. I never liked the looks of the M2 from the front or rear. IMO, BMW really missed the mark there; however, the side profile was not bad. But compared to the M4, the M2 looks worse in every way. M4 seems like a great balance of sporty, aggressive, classy. This is coming from someone who thought the M4 didn't photograph well from certain angles. I much prefer the looks of the E46 and E36 M3's, both 'boxy' cars that don't look dumpy. M4 is still really big though...

Short and great summary. M4, great balance. Couldn't agree more.

What about the ugly narrow headlights that go right to the grill on the M4,it just looks awkward IMO.The M4 also looks huge compared to the M2.I would never buy a coupe that big.The M2 looks way better.

I'm guessing you have not seen the M2 in person.
