Here's a video of my MPE exhaust tested/filmed by a friend. He shows several modes, including the 'COMFORT' + 'DSC OFF' mode. My M2 has a manual transmission. Of course it all sounds even better when on the move under load.

My older videos of the MPE cold start sequence:

Did I miss a post explaining your swap of the wheels? I know that these are the 18" from the F80/82, and they are way lighter (if I remember correctly) but what was the reason for you?

BTW: it looks quite good - but way less aggressive.

They are not notably lighter. I believe it is around 1lbs each vs the 19's. In previous M cars, the 19's weren't forged and were heavier. The 19's on the M2/3/4 are forged and very light.

OEM 437M 19" wheels taken off as they get a Gyeon Quartz coating (as well as the rest of the car).

Hence, temporarily sporting 513M 18" wheels of an M4.

Soon my 437M wheels will be fit again (which I also personally prefer).

Yes confirmed. The hidden exhaust mode really works, even on my DCT M2.

So much kudos for this discovery OP. Without a doubt, contender for thread of the year. You've made a bunch of people lives and the world in general, just a little better.

using the 'hidden exhaust mode' Will this limit stability control? What about driving in the rain/daily driver? Will it cause wheel spin and possible loss of traction making it more dangerous?

Yes ... But there's this marvelous connection between your right foot and accelerator pedal which can help limit this.
Or simply don't use it in the wet.

Does anyone know if the new M140i and M240i have this hidden mode?

So I haven't read the whole thread as I'm on my cell. But I was a bit skeptical or thought didn't need to try it out due to the fact that I have MPE.

But I tried it ( comfort and DSC off ) and:
1) it is real and I do notice it is louder in all modes ( sport and track ) and burbles much more
2) at lower rpm lift off it IS louder than the car in sport+ driver experience mode.
3) at higher rpm lift off it there are no/little burbles etc. *** NOTE: this results was obtained with a static car without load. It was not obtained driving at speed. The car in sport+ and exhaust in either sport or track mode the car has it's share of burbles, pops and bangs for high rpm lift off.

I think for max exhaust enjoyment use:
1) DSC off in comfort for city or high traffic situations
2) Sport+ high speed/rpm driving

MPE will obviously enhance whatever is coming out of the engine

If the car is pretty much cold you wont hear the popping that much after start up. After it gets to operating temperature the Traction mode pops more than twice than in Sport+.

At least thats how its been in my experience. I have a comparo video of the different modes and the popping sound is very noticeable.

I played around with this today - I didn't notice anything until I let off the gas. Mega popping and gargling at that point. Then I had to keep doing it.

The modes are a little confusing. In Traction mode ( MDM ) it looks like all the other settings default to Comfort. Is this true? If so then you get great sound but not the sportiest performance.

yea its only good for showing off or creeping thru the city. sport suspension gets old at low city speeds so its a good blend of the things you love while cruising.

For those concerned about using 'popcorn' mode and stability in wet etc. don't worry - the M2 traction control is very intrusive. too much so unfortunately. Its winter here with snow and ice everywhere and I drive with one click on the traction button at all times as it will barely let me get out on the corners in that mode before cutting in. With everything turned on its incredibly annoying. Obviously it was designed and tested on dry pavement situations.

Loved this mode but recently did an m4 gts dct software upgrade on my car and it took out this burble mode. The car shifts so much better and jerks so little that it's tough to give it up just to have the burble mode back
