Manual Seats Please!!

In the US we are stuck with power sport seats, but the manual seats sit lower in the car.

Are any other markets able to get manual sport seats?

Sweden? Do they come with Lubar Support still?

My dealer is acting like it's going to be impossible to get manual seats on a US car.

Yeah, Sweden. But it is available on most markets that doesn't just group a fully loaded car for its customers like the USA, UK, AU and maybe some more. You can get all the lumbar support and all that on the manual too, but that is an additional cost for us.

It will be impossible to get it from the factory for you guys as BMW NA has decided to just load the car with all the options from the start. You can't select the sunroof either for instance.

Something in the area of 1-2". I went back and forth between two cars at the dealership and it was significant.

Yep, the only fault i have with my 235i here in US is the 'high' driving position.

Hence i specced manual seats in M2 when i return to UK later this year.

It's pretty annoying that on a car like this we don't get to decide on an option like this, that has a direct effect on both driver safety and comfort. For tall drivers and those wearing a helmet there just isn't enough room.

Especially if they are making both types of seats already. I guess I could see it if all the blue trimmed M2 seats came one way, but it sounds like they have them sitting there at the factory.

I'd be curious to know how many US customers would want "Power Seat Delete" as an option.

I see this as a step back on the M2. The 1M was available with manual seats and also there was an option package for power.

Many M235 owners say that height is not an issue but I know that there are several 1M owners that have posted that the seating position in manual seat cars is much better. : I can't imagine this not being an issue in the M2 for some.

Yes please! Especially since I now know the seats will be 1 to 2in higher

It seems to be a US market issue.

If you pull the UK M2 options list they don't have Power Seats stock. It's a 650 GBP option though. So UK and Swedan are good to go with manual seats.

I presume it was not an M2...but a M235i who had manual and electric seats? I wanted to sit as low as possible and ordered the manual seats on my EU M2.

Yeah, I would prefer manual seat too. Well, unless we boycott buying M2 for having BMW putting manual seats, I don't think BMW will ever listen to us haha.

I have the manual seat option with pneumatic lumbars in my 235 and the height is quite noticeable. I think you also save 20lbs per seat which is nice. Can't you just swap in a set of manual 235i seats?

He is not acting that way, he is telling you the (unfortunate) truth. It'll never happen.

Much like sunroof - Canada has them, US doesn't.

It makes no sense, but they keep saying it's all market demand and streamlining packages with all the options people would get anyway....

If any of you are going to the BMW Festorics /Oktoberfest - Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion starting the 18th and want to lobby for seats and sunroofs; Ludwig Willisch, President and CEO, BMW of North America, LLC is scheduled to attend.

In Spain I was told power seats were by default. No choice for manual seats. Too bad as this is really annoying for me. You seat really high on the power seats.
