Where do you live in the area. We rented a home about 3 miles from the track towards Salinas. I forgot the name of the street, but I took a turn about 2 miles from the track and then drove another mile up the hills. Really nice area. Far enough away from the ocean to avoid some of the fog, but not too far inland to stay cool. I could see myself retiring down there and hit the track every couple of weeks
Right in Monterey and border Pacific Grove, great area.. sure glad i am able to spend my shore duty tour here

When I test drove the M4, I loved the engine/chassis but didn't feel that the EPS was better or worse than the M235i and the exhaust note, IMHO, sucked as*, cold or warm.

At the end both cars would more than satisfy my humble DD needs.
You sure do a whole lot of complaining for someone who acknowledges that both cars (M2 and M4 ) will satisfy your needs....
I love the brand and plan on being loyal but will continue to comments on the individual bits and pieces that don't work for me.
Am I buying another bimmer? Sure.
Do I like the lawnmower exhaust on the M3 and the EPS? Hell no.

Z4M is a great example, I think - here's hoping M2 production/allocations will be similar.

They test everywhere across the globe but the something is coming was the M2 has begun hot weather testing in the US. So we are almost at the end of development and then we will know...

IMO the car is a modified M235i, with some sort of racing kit.

Using common sense, they are multiple mules, from various stages of development. And the ones seen over here are doing shakedowns of different components, but are earlier mules without the bodywork---rear and front fenders, etc. But, have the front bodywork. The more complete, almost production ready mules are the ones seen at Ring and other places in Germany.

IN other words... why would they install a seat that they know that they will NOT put in the vehicle when the install of that item can affect the driver's feedback ?
As another data point.. Preproduction models of the 1M DID have the actual 1M seats in them.. with the correct color stitching..
Hm, here's a picture of a 1M test mule. Not yet the final 1M layout. Maybe the ultimate test mules got the production layout (as the one that you had the privilege to see and experience in Autumn 2010).

I feel they would need to use the f80/2 seats simply because of the additional bolstering etc.
Testdrivers would be all over the car in the standard 2 series seats.

My 135i found a new home last night, so here is to hoping that in a year I'll make the ///M2 my own. Wish me much luck gents

As the start of production is set for this November, there's only room for some fine-tuning of the set-up this Summer. Nothing substantial anymore. Highly likely, remaining exterior and interior bits and pieces distinguishing it from other 2ers are already available to be added (///M rear view mirrors, etc.).

Hot weather testing in the US is very important. It's not easy to match the U.S. CLIMATE
