1 piece seats are exciting! Especially if they're alcantara!

Could it not be possible that some of the test mules are not running production interior if their sole purpose is to test suspension set up? At the end of the day the driving dynamics wouldn't be affected by seat material and stitching colour. Would make a lot of sense production wise though if they shared the seats from the M3/4

When I test drove the M4, I loved the engine/chassis but didn't feel that the EPS was better or worse than the M235i and the exhaust note, IMHO, sucked as*, cold or warm.

At the end both cars would more than satisfy my humble DD needs.
Gotcha. Personally, I already have 0 problem with the amount an M235i makes, so the little bit more the M2 makes is a bonus.

I'm just more interested in the brakes and suspension upgrades that the M2 will get. Personally, I can feel a difference between the M235i and M2 EPS, although this was noticed the Performance Center.

I think an M2 with catless downpipes and a light tune would be more than enough for my DD needs

Yes it is a possibility, but then BMW wouldn't have gone through the trouble of adding blue contrast stitching (which is not available unless you go Individual). That's why what he's saying is interesting news.

Suppose so. The manufacturing process will be the same though. Thread colour will be one of the easiest swaps they can do. 95% chance it will be final though. Wonder how much feedback on aesthetics the test drivers give, or whether they just leave it to a separate team that reviews material and colour choice.

That this early test car should have series production interior seems unlikely.

just want to get some more pics with less camo, and some interior shots. but getting very excited, especially that BMW is testing it on our side of the pond.

It handled well and sounded good.

Thanks for posting this, BTW. Very nice find.
I'm still not sure why, at this late date, the car is a Laguna Seca. My guess is they are going to test the performance of the car at every course where the car may be tracked . Just to make sure there are no surprises.
As an aside, the car was spotted, just now, on 101 at Prunedale headed North. Probably to SF airport. Had a couple of X5s with him.

Believe it or not, but it *is* definitely the same car (well, they removed the tow hook, though). The camo swirls are identical. Check whatever swirl and you find it at exactly the same location on both pictures.

Good catch.

Here's my situation:
- Going to the beach this weekend
- Work on the M3's the weekend after that
- Will be busy the rest of July at work
- Going on vacation for a week in beginning of August

Surely by then, the car will be revealed online Got plenty to keep myself busy, or otherwise I would go insane because of this car

I just had a track day on 6/12 there, and vacationed the week leading in to it in the area. Too bad I missed the M2. Did you time his laps by any chance? Curious to see what a stock M2 can do at LS. Right now I am driving a track oriented e30 M3, but I am getting to the point where I would like something more civil, if it can still perform the same or better.

I don't like how the F80/82 seats don't have that thigh extender thing like all other BMW sport seats. Really missing this feature.

To be honest, I've never used it on any of my BMW's. Never felt natural to me. If I do use them, it would just be one click, so it doesn't do a huge difference.

The Navy has giving me the opportunity to travel the world and live in some pretty cool places such as Japan for 18 months. I moved back to the states this past December to Monterey, California for graduate school and I have the privilege of living 20 minutes away from Mazda Laguna Seca.

(6/22/15) I was able to head out to Laguna today and what did i see?? The new member of the M Family being tested out on the track. I got some pictures on my iPhone at Turn 3.

I was able to talk to the driver (who was a BMW driver from Germany) as he was filling up and I got a close up look of this beast (wasn't allowed to take pictures that close, I asked). We referred to the new M as "it" and "it" sounded great. The 10 or so laps I was able to watch of the new M on the track sounded great and handled well. Up close the M looked very similar to the design of the M235i, had same one-piece seat design as the F80/2, DCT 7 Speed, and 19inch wheels.

I'm excited, as I am sure other enthusiasts are, to see this beast hit the street and more importantly the track in the near future.

On a side note: This was the drivers first time at Mazda Laguna Seca and loved the track. If you ever have the opportunity to do a track day at Laguna, Do It!! you will not regret it

YOU ARE FUCKING AWESOME!!!

You just shed a ton of light with the seats and DCT. This is awesome and I'm sure everyone on here would love to buy you a beer...and also a hooker.
