Makes me extremely happy as a CS owner haha. Nothin about the G80 even begins to peak my interest to swap atm
That's what she said.
Shoulda mentioned it's an F80 cs ... not an M2

Interesting problem, because there are only 350+ manual cars and the buyers are presumably entering with the intent to stay long term. Usually people will sell early to buy something else that comes out new. But we are at the end of the ICE lifecycle, the new M3/M4 (presumably last ICE version) is eh, and we're waiting on the final ICE M2.

If the final ICE M2 looks good on paper and in pictures, i think you'll see the CS values settle in the 60s range.

If the new M2 is a whiff, then the CS will probably never drop in value again.
Only 350 manual cars?

So happy this came out, just makes me feel even better about my purchase. Those early reviews had me questioning my deposit lol

Who wouldn't do that? The CS versions of these cars are truly special

The looks on the m2 are a whiff just based on the leaks for the new 2 series. The metal will change some but the headlights and tail lights look terrible and the trunk lid has some weird dolphin looking ish going on

That said, sometimes I remind myself that this is the first M2, like period- I think that will help retain value when the f87 was the first of that line and the new m2 will undoubtedly be less analog than this car

In the US there are a little over 400 MT cars I believe. BMW did an excellent job of keeping this car limited within the confines of the special run. By offering two transmissions, two brake options, two wheel colors, and 4 body colors the choices make each combination extremely limited. As an example I've got a fairly basic spec of black, 6mt, gold wheels, and standard brakes that results in ~ 35 in the US. That's crazy. The white, with ccb is very rare.

1 of 51 here and blue was a very popular choice- give it 3 years for non forum members to total some of those cars and we got even less I wouldn’t wish that on a forum member though lol! Jk wouldn’t wish it on anyone but some will undoubtedly get damaged or totaled with time part of what happens

Really when you think about it’s going to be a unicorn in 5 years and the only way I see some on the second hand market is if the new m2 home runs it which is super doubtful. I plan to keep mine in my stable until I drop dead or have to sell it for some other reason beyond my control and I think most taking delivery with the exception of a small few are going to feel similarly

This car reminds me of the 08 Honda S2000 CR. I believe only 699 were made and not too long ago one sold for 80k on BAT- well above msrp. This car is even rarer.

Honda S2000 cr sold for 80k with 1300 miles - twice the msrp. I can see this car holding its msrp cost strong or mild depreciation while making a turn upwards in 5 plus years

https://www.automobilemag.com/news/2...auction-price/

When you consider the next generation of cars are going to be electrical - I just don’t see a scenario where this car tanks in value which was the argument for so many people. “They are going to be given away like the m3 cs in April. “. We’re so far removed from that thought now .

I remember thinking "man Chris isn't thinking this through. It's 1000% worth it"

I'm glad he figured it out as well. I love seeing the MB! Congrats to him on a damn near perfect car & anyone else who owns this same spec.

Also on a side note, this says a lot that even after he drove the new M3 he STILL got an M2 over it. That's huge!
To be fair, he was never going to buy the new M3. He wouldn't have been in an M2C if he was remotely interested in a larger car.
You know he has quite a few cars right? I don't think normal car choosing criteria apply to the likes of Chris Harris. If he likes something he most likely gets one, within reason.
Yes I'm aware, but he preferred the M2C over the F8X, so it's easy to surmise that a larger/heavier M car wasn't something he desired.

His list of cars is impressive, but the main BMW's to make the list are E30 M3's and old E28 M5's.
You do realize that the M2C is heavier than the F8X... but I do agree that the F8X is marginally dimensionally larger.

M3 vs M2 (BMW USA)

Wheel base, length, width, height
M3: 110.7, 184.6, 73.9, 56.1
M2: 106.0, 176.2, 73.0, 55.5
Curb weight (bmw)
M3: 3575lbs
M2: 3655, (competition +55kg)

Acceleration
M3:
4.1sec manual transmission.
3.9sec dct transmission.

M2:
4.0sec manual transmission.
4.2sec automatic transmission.

(M2&M3 same gear ratios: 4.11, 2.32 manual)

Power:
M3: 425hp, 406ft/lbs
M2C: 405hp, 406ft/lbs

Top speed (both limited):
M3: 155mph
M2: 150mph

Harry mentioned issues with the CCB clearance trapping rocks during drives and nicking the wheel. I wonder if it's a common issue. Chris will probably share in due course...

I would've kept the M2C to drive and just wipe my M2 CS with a diaper 3-5x daily. I wouldn't even break it in. I'd keep it locked underground in a lair.

It is an issue, and has always been one with 19” wheel F80 cars as well.

I recall that the steel brakes on the CS are the same sized disk and same caliper as the Ceramic versions. If so then it’s the same issue steel or ccbs.

I had them on my F80 Comp (20” wheels) and no issue of course.

Unfortunately, older, turned 20 back in Feb, but LSB definitely was a premium price to pay....

You don't have to preach specs to me. The M3 is larger, that was my point. I realize the weight difference is marginal, but the wheelbase matters.
