Harris' opinion was a key reason people kept trumping the M2C as not much different, and then he caved and bought one.

This is the same way the M3 CSL got to the point it did. It originally started as "overpriced" and now its a legend, and this seemed to have happened all over again.
As of this morning, Autotrader had 10 manual cars for sale in the US. 2 of them were priced above MSRP. Realistically, a few of these cars are P1 cars waiting to be picked up. I would say that we are down to the last 5-8 manuals with about 10-20 DCT cars still available. We are certainly down to the final unsold cars.

Already happened a few times.
Granted they were used only in title and with 10-15 miles.

Chris Harris buying one at the absolute tail end of availability will be something everyone will remember, especially if he keeps it for a while. Spikes demand with no availability, and will assure good market value. Thanks Chris!

The headline on Bimmerpost front page is misleading. We don't know that he traded in the M2C for CS. We just know that he bought a CS.

He could be be keeping an M2C as a project car, or daily or whatever.
His M2C is for sale at a UK BMW dealer DICK LOVETT.

Interesting problem, because there are only 350+ manual cars and the buyers are presumably entering with the intent to stay long term. Usually people will sell early to buy something else that comes out new. But we are at the end of the ICE lifecycle, the new M3/M4 (presumably last ICE version) is eh, and we're waiting on the final ICE M2.

If the final ICE M2 looks good on paper and in pictures, i think you'll see the CS values settle in the 60s range.

If the new M2 is a whiff, then the CS will probably never drop in value again.

I remember thinking "man Chris isn't thinking this through. It's 1000% worth it"

I'm glad he figured it out as well. I love seeing the MB! Congrats to him on a damn near perfect car & anyone else who owns this same spec.

Also on a side note, this says a lot that even after he drove the new M3 he STILL got an M2 over it. That's huge!
To be fair, he was never going to buy the new M3.

He wouldn't have been in an M2C if he was remotely interested in a larger car.
Chris actually likes larger cars if they're done properly

He was never going to buy the new M3 as he absolutely despises the looks of it

On the other hand, i'm not sure it was babied. People always say he puts alot of miles on his cars, just has 8k miles. God willing, i put 8k miles on my CS by the end of the summer.

All he has to say it’s the best or one of the best m cars ever and the stock of our and now HIS car goes way up

And not even really simply by spending his own money on it goes a long way. It says a lot about the car. Easily the most well known and respected car journalist. Great news.

Referring to the 1m of course:

Do you remember how long it took this took?
I don't, but it was a shock considering how people felt about the design of the 1-Series in general.

Based on the 2 gran coupe and 1 series bulb front ends it reminds me of the WRX bug eye trajectory all over again. That didn't take and neither will the current trend. By the time that clicks we'll be in the post ICE era. F87 CS will be one of the greats. This one's a keeper.

As soon as I saw the thread I thought to myself, within five comments there will be something mentioned about the CS "premium" over a C spec. It took seven. As 2 year owner of an M3CS I continued to maintain that if you add up the cost of all the unique parts and the labor cost it would take to install (if you paid someone to modify a comp) along with the engineering and tuning of just about every aspect of the CS package, then add the way it drives compared to a comp then the asking price is fair.

I hope he keeps it! There are a handful of us with both....it's good company to be in!
