So far ring times show that the M3/4 CS is still faster. M2 CS is in the 1:50's while the M3/4 CS is in the 1:30's. 20 seconds faster. Whether that is due to power is up to interpretation.
Not really. Comparing apples-to-apples, AMS/SA supertest results the M4cs and M2cs are within 1 second of each other (both in the 7:42). It has to be noted that the M4cs was tested on a rather hot day and the M2cs was tested on the faster repaved 'ring, but nonetheless, I expect the M2cs and M4cs to be very close in terms of performance.
That's what I'm saying. I don't think the M2 CS has more power. If anything slightly less if their ring times were that separated (depending on tires, weather, driver etc of course).

My point is that the M4cs is not much faster (if at all) than the M2cs...

I agree, the M2cs does not make more power than the the M4cs. However, the slight power and torque deficit of the M2cs is made up by its lighter weight.

Crank.

Maha dyno figure crank hp by measuring drivetrain loss. Blue line is measured whp, green line is drivetrain loss, red line is calculated crank hp (red=blue+green).

Guess the price tag seems even less of a concern after these results.

I agree with this. The CS will be a special car for those who are lucky enough to get an allocation. Just as long as they don't pay $30K over MSRP, which is new 911 Carrera S base price.

Where it will cost more than new. This is BMW most desirable modern M car.
It's low volume and still pretty heavy, for the cost, it's sort of a parting gift M2 lovers. Personally I'd say just get a M2 race?

Anyway amazing 15 years later the economy car based M is putting out power equal to the top of the line M5

Wasn't the GTS water-cooled? I think any tune can whack up hp but doing it with confidence to maintain a warranty is another thing altogether. I understand the CS has altered cooling and air circulation in the engine bay?

The GTS has water injection in the intake to be able to maintain boost as IAT increases.

That's the thing with aftermarket tunes, they simply tap in the thermodynamic margin the S55 has. On stock tunes, the engine keep making peak power throughout an entire track session because it has sufficient thermodynamic margin to sustain the power despite the higher IAT. Aggressive aftermarket tunes are great for highway pulls, but will revert back to stock power levels after a few laps around a track.

What do we think about torque? M4 CS is rated at 442 lb feet but the m2 CS at only 406.

As posted previously, this is consistent with the dyno AMS/SA charts, the M2cs showed ~590N-m while the M4cs showed ~640N-m, ~9% more just as the official rating.

Can you give us an apples to apples weight comparison?
From what I understand, despite being marginally larger, the F80/82 was ever so slightly lighter.

It's all in this thread

If you look at the screenshots from the M2cs and M4cs dynos, the weight of each car is also posted:
M2cs: 1588kg
M4cs: 1609kg

M4cs is lighter than M2C but heavier than M2cs

M2 CS - with 6MT and CCB - 1525kg.

Isnt the Din weight the actual car weight ? EU curb weight includes the driver - 75kg more . Not all the drivers weight 75kg thought.

It's a "spec" weight, for certification purposes, different cars will have different weights depending on options. The DIN spec weight of the M4 when it was released was 1497kg, you'll be hard pressed to find an example that is that light. That's why I prefer to rely on actual weighing from "trustable" publications.

Is this level of output attainable in a 2020 M2C? I've heard of a few tunes out their but I'm fairly ignorant.
