is it normal to hear the DCT clutch release when coming to a stop

on my '18 M2 with DCT, as I slow down to stop, I can often hear a soft "puhh" sound in the last 5 mph or so as I finally stop.

I would assume that its the clutches releasing just before the car comes to a stop. I'm hard of hearing so if I can hear it, it must be pretty loud for most people.

its my first BMW and first car with DCT, so I don't know what's "normal" and what I need to be concerned about.

Amen ‼️

OP: I'm not exactly sure what you're hearing but…

Easiest troubleshooting is driving another DCT M2 for comparison

I hear a sound like a "beep" when I'm coming to a stop.

Kutta I think that one is just the exhaust valve actuator. Assuming you're in sport/sport+ mode.

I'm usually in Sport and MDM as my default driving mode and only in Efficient until the engine is warm, so you may be right.

unfortunately I don't know anybody with an DCT M2 to ride with to listen for the noise.

my local dealer says since I mentioned that I thought it was clutch-related that its a ~$200 diagnosis fee since "clutches" are considered a wear item and not covered under warranty.

Find a local member and have them take you for a ride

Or a used M2 on a lot somewhere will do the trick
