5” refers to the depth. ARM does not make a stepped intercooler, so the depth would be about 3”

Gotcha yeah that’s what I’m seeking. Slightly bigger as I mentioned there’s is 36% bigger, which is enough to cool it and stay away from lag

Is there really a turbo without lag? 😷. Electric motors would get rid of lag.

Get a hi-flow DP and forget about lags. Biggest difference…and BM3.

On a side note, funny how you can choose 5 diff colours for their IC.

I, too, was worried about the lag in the beginning of my search. Just pulled the trigger and never looked back.

If the ARM is 20% larger than the stock, what about the others like VRSF & CSF?

I was thinking about something- a larger Intercooler is going to allow air to flow more freely, especially on a modified car and have less pressure drop (basically back pressure) in the core vs a smaller core.
For example, the Wagner EVO2 intercooler is a 6” core and has less pressure drop than stock, and the EVO3 is substantially larger still and has less pressure drop than both stock and the EVO2. MotorIQ did a test on the CSF intercooler for the B58 and noted that the bigger core lead to less restriction, which lowered the IATs coming in, and as another benefit, increased power:

https://motoiq.com/testing-the-csf-v...intercooler/6/

I saw the same thing on a VRSF Race intercooler Dyno (21whp over tuned baseline):

https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1343126

This is again noted by Evolve on their test with the CSF Intercooler on the 435D (19whp vs tuned baseline)

And F87 M2 (10whp vs stock baseline)

Basically, if you're chasing big number and want the car to run efficiently, run a bigger intercooler. Also note on the dyno, none of the intercoolers showed a power loss anywhere.

Mike,

Can you give some feedback on the Racing Dynamics intercooler you have. I saw two versions. How long ago did you guys get this and any feedback on fitment and performance?

Also asking feedback on their CP and BP combo. Any fitment issues? Either you use their intercoolers or on other brands.

Thank you in advance for your help!

Why would you pick that over the other options, just curious

Oh i just wanted to get feedback. Racing Dynamics built a good reputation back in the day and i recently saw they came out with FMIC’s, CP and BP.

Not necessarily picking them over what’s available in the market right now but i’m getting ready for stage 2 and i don’t see any reviews on them…

I would look elsewhere, nothing stand out about the product but the name.

The intercooler they offer is decent.

However, considering the value for money, there are better value brands.

On a positive note, there shouldn't be any fitment issues with Racing Dynamics

Hello,

I'm new on this forum, I own an OG M2 N55 2016.
I do my first track day last week, I see high temps form de IAT, I would like to change my intercooler.

The engine is full original, I've only an oil thermostat Moselmann and an FTP charge pipe.

Can I change the FMIC with original mapping? Stock power is perfect for me, I prefer work on the drivetrain and cooling.

I Can have a CSF intercooler, that's a good one for stock power M2 N55?

Thank's a lot

Note: Sorry for my bad english, I'm from Swiss and that's not my language.

I think the pros might say you may have a slight increase in lag with a larger IC like the CSF. But a BM3 or a hi flow cat would remove that.

Thanks for the video, if I understand correctly the CSF is ok for an all stock BMW M2 like mine, without increasing the turbo lag much. I just wanted to be sure that the original mapping could handle a CSF intercooler without issue since the flow might be different.

Here in Swiss we have to be stock, so hi flow cat is not an option for now.

Yes the CSF is an excellent option in your case.

what I wanted before coz I didn't want a big volume IC and this seemed the one but it has issue w/ hitting a bracket. if you don't mind messing w/ this may be an option for you.

The CSF is a very popular choice with m2 owners and virtually everyone is happy with their CSF…including me. I did not notice any additional lag with mine but I did have a sport cat installed at the same time.

being at a happy medium of 5.5", the CSF works well with stock, lightly tuned cars, and stage 2. Its also not large enough to cause any lag even if the car is not heavily tuned .

Good morning,

I come back to you after the purchase of my CSF intercooler.

so I mounted it on the car on Friday, and I have a question.

I found that my FTP charge pipe passed close to the belt, I tried to move the flexible FTP pipe in order to put it as far as possible from the belt.
I put a piece of tape on the charge pipe to see if the belt could touch when the engine tilted.

Indeed the belt touched the load pipe very slightly, has anyone ever had the case? I saw that the DO88 charge pipe has a large flexible pipe part, maybe that would be better?

Thanks

First time to hear of that issue. I presume it’s in the front section but that’s for the bottom pc if any pc would touch the belts.

Just got a 2016 F87 M2 OG, and will be getting a CSF Intercooler.

Mike, without going through a slew of past discussions, which down pipe do you recommend? Cobra Sport? Thanks.

For NJ folks, which shop/mechanic do you recommend having these installed in Bergen County, NJ (in addition to AutoCoutre)?

Catted or catless?
is the engine light a concern?
