Featured on BIMMERPOST.com The car has been amazing, other than the faulty intercooler during the break in period (warranty item), it stood up to all of the hard driving. I was doing back to back sessions during one track day and no overheating whatsoever. overall ownership experience is 8/10. Dislike: need bigger gas tank, feel like always need to fill up, with some of the track, i need to bring a Jerry can, full tank won't last whole day and gas station is not close by. No HUD, never thought I would miss HUD but it's somewhat inconvenient to glance at what speed I'm doing. The redline is hard to see, I would hit rev limiter because the red marker is very dark and sort of blends in to the background. Wish it had the shift lights on the other M cars. Wider tires from factory, i immediately changed to wider tires on factory rims and felt the car more stable. The seats I wish had openings on the seat back for harness. The LIKES: I've had many M cars in the past and I would say this is a better buy than the F8x m3/4. It's got the biggest brakes in bmw, 6 pot front and 4 pot rear, it's also the best part of the car. I have endless pads and ss lines, the braking power is relentless on track, it's so consistent. DCT, my friend has the new m3 and drove back to back on track, the dct out shines the 8zf from the first shift. It's a shame bmw is going 8zf now, The engine, for some reason I feel it's programmed more like an n/a car, it's linear and you need to rev to get power. I have stock exhaust and find the exhaust note lovely when revving it out. Handling, the car can be tricky being the shorter wheel base, I've spun multiple times but once getting used to the car, it's controllable and the limit is very high, can keep up on track with some of the big boys. The exterior styling, I think the car looks mean and aggressive and should age very well. Interior, it's standard, I think most people buying the 2 series aren't looking for fancy interior. As long as it's ergonomically well, it will do the job. The new bmws are not my thing anymore, IMO it's designed for the younger generations where their "cool things" I cannot understand. This will be the last bmw m car for me and time to move on to other brands. Will definitely miss it. |

What's next? I also have owned a number of M cars. I have two (for me, anyway) classics, the E39 M5 and Z4M coupe. When I decided to retire my M5 from DD duties, I really couldn't find a replacement that I wanted. Finally decided on a F80 MT ZCP, mainly for the European Delivery. While I loved the ED (and would do it again in a heartbeat if BMW offers if for NA again), I never fell in love with the car...I often still drove the M5. When the M2C came, one drive and I knew it was the one. For me, it is the best modern M car and great DD. I have no desire to replace it, as it ticks all of my boxes: MT, RWD, and relatively stealth, more than enough power for the street, and enough but not too much tech. It might be the last new M new that I buy...

I agree. I understand moving to a different car because you are bored of the car or because you want to try something else but you are going to pay for it the money you made on selling the current car. But sure I could see something like, sell the comp for 60k and then get an older cayman for like 40k or something like that (even though that car is overpriced so not really making money but could pocked some money).
Regardless I was being funny here, no judgment on what you did at all. |

kind of couldn't see myself in any other car right now than say maybe a G80 but the prices are lol level to me... MB and Audi don't have anything good in these price ranges right now.

Shit, when you get it you should put it on BaT and pocket the extra cash. That's a free 20k right there. Can't argue with that. Take that money.

The GT4 is very special (to me) and I love it. But if I could have only one sporty car, I am not sure which I would pick. The M2C is much more usable, looks great, is just as fast if not faster, has awesome brakes, and costs a lot less. I am glad I don't have to choose (at least for now). Bottom line: Very different cars. |

Great write, up. I missed my 19 so much I purchased another one. There is just something about how nibble this car is I haven't found else where. Enjoy your next journey onward!

Like others have said - the GT4 is a very different experience. Much more Porsche like - the focus is on precision and control. The M2C feels sloppier than a typical Porsche, especially a GT4, but the flip side is that it’s a lot more extroverted and easy to have fun driving on the street. The throttle mapping is so much more aggressive in BMW. The GT4 is hard to wake up in street driving. You really need wide open streets to open it up properly - at least in my experience owning one. |
