Last Summer a red M2 test mule was lapping the Laguna Seca circuit.

Wish that it would return, but this time without camo.

(trivia: this test mule had the same one-piece seat design as the F80 M3 and F82 M4...)

Since we're posting every single M2 photo here...

"Not even 10 seconds into the presentation of the #BMW #M2 and we are reminded of the 2002turbo."

2002 marketing gimmick again

The person who took the pictures said so... But it was never confirmed by anyone else and no one else has seen a M2 with those seats. When the car was in europe it had standard seats as can be seen on the image below.

Up close the M looked very similar to the design of the M235i, had same one-piece seat design as the F80/2, DCT 7 Speed, and 19inch wheels.

As also metrickid pointed out, forum fellow hayes180 got the chance to take a look at the interior and to speak to the test driver at Laguna Seca in June 2015. I see no objective reason to doubt that he reported correctly what he saw.

If he gets to read this message, he will undoubtedly confirm that the M2 test mule he saw, sported one-piece seats à la F80/F82.

By the way, early Spring 2015 also Scott26 hinted at dedicated seats for the M2, whilst showing a picture of an M2 test mule lapping the Nürburgring Nordschleife:
"Interesting rumour about the "Sibling" [= the M2 variant] but will need to follow through. But it could feature a version albeit with less power of the M4 GTS innovative Water Injection Technology to make the more harder edged M cars stand out.
But here is something new. Why are the front seats covered? "

History repeats itself once again as the 1 M test mule had M3 seats as well... which, again, did not make it into production.

For what its worth the covered seats could just be the seats we have today and they were covered because of the stitches and the M-branding at the top.

TIL stitching and a little M logo make them bespoke. Thanks, Oba... Scott.

It is a good thing that regular F22 owners can't keep up with the F87 and mock us for our shitty seats...
