I agree... The full on treatment for full race cars seems to be bouncing between the big coupes like the M4 and the M6. At least the 235i racing does exist for the chassis development. |

No offense to the M2 community as a soon to be owner of 17’ M2. Why pay 80k or 100k for a modest increase in performance and some updated suspension bits. That’s new Porsche 911s money which I’d rather have than a stripped out M2.
P.S Please don’t kick me off the forum. Maybe the Porsche guys would let me on theirs |

All we know is the test mules " sound like " S55 exhaust farts and we have seen some rumors about mules with an S55 "looking" motor inside. The biggest reason for dropping in the S55.. 1) plenty of S55 motors siting around and cost has dropped on the motor such that placing it into the M2 driveline may be an easy drop in.. 2) allows BMW to phase out the N55 which is getting long in the tooth - it began production in 2009... Or course... BMW could also be quietly developing a B583OT0... .. an S58 ... or.. gasp.. even an S48 now that most of the competitors in the lineup will have less than 6 cyl.. Time will tell... but it seems to me that BMW will need to put a motor into the upcoming X3M and X4M... (S55 has been rumored for these already..) as well as possibly a hot X2 model.. (can't see this getting an S55 also) as well as continue to provide motors for the M2 for the next several years. Last edited by M3 Adjuster; 04-11-2017 at 02:50 PM.. |

Honestly, I'm thinking about making the transition to DCT after 20+ manual years...but a choice would have been great.... Just in case I change my mind. |

That figures. I just talked myself out of DCT and into 6MT because of how much fun my old BMW was to drive. I actually prefer not to have to make the decision. So I hope they, do indeed, pick one for me.

Cancelled my deposits for the M2 CS today. Put my monies into the M2 GTS. We will see what all the years of building a relationship with the dealer principle are worth....

Also not excited. Not a deal-breaker for me on it's own however.

We don't yet know the power outputs of the M2CS nor the M4CS. Too early to make such a conclusion.

Isn't the S58 rumored to be launched in these platforms?

I think an M2GTS is highly speculative.

Perhaps BMW will save the MT for the M2 GTS?
Like the GT4? An M2 GTS might out-perform the M4 GTS...so you "neuter" it with a MT (for absolute performance figures) and create a cult classic at the same time?

I've no idea .. haven't really been following the X models. Personally .. I would be surprised to see an S58 developed for the SAV line first and then handed down to the next M3 and M4 .. but it could certainly go that way.

no longer was it waiting for an LCI and just some tail lights. If this is true and is the replacement for the LCI, well, it's a different engine. I would say that's how. lol.
