Awesome, possibly just made the M235i irrelevant. I know at least i'd be saving for the M2 instead!

same here, i figured that i have X3 for family use i don't really need a bigger car, M2 will be perfect solution. I don't need the back seat anyway as owning my 335i sedan for 3 years i probably had passengers in the back seat 3-5 times..

You know that the moment you get a coupe, everyone and their brother are going to want to be in the back seat. haha

A cabrio? seriously? What happened with the "firm" plans for the M2GC??? "SCOTT26: The 2 Series Gran Coupe will define in this compact four door segment a unity of performance , individuality and downsized luxury to compliment the BMW 6er Gran Coupe and upcoming BMW 4er Gran Coupe. And like its larger brethren, there are firm plans for an M2 Gran Coupe." Should be a fun car, if BMW can keep the weight down.

Not quite correct. The Z4 M Roadster/Coupe have 330 horsepower, just 3 horsepower less than the exact same engine in the E46 M3. As you said, the difference is in the length of the exhaust system, much shorter in the M Roadster/Coupe.

I'm excited to see how this turns out. I'm afraid how big the M4 is. M2 may be a better fit for me.

Hopefully this means an X1 M with a stick, AWD and this engine. That would be awesome!
Granted I do plan on buying a boat so I need something that can tow more... How about an MX950d truck |

Yes it might take away a little from M3/M4 sales but for sure they will add a tonn of new buyers and its probably their plan. I'm telling you this M2 is going to be THE performance car to own that comes out of BMW Munich. IMO I expect sales to be equal to M3/M4 numbers in its first model cycle.
