I am interested in running the 255/275 35 19 on stock wheels with Ohlin R&Ts without camber plates; can anyone confirm that they will fit without any rubbing?
Thanks

Should be fine, depends on the size of ohlin struts but kw's are usually larger and it's fine. The stock wheel offsets provide a decent amount of clearance. Would still recommend camber plates though since you'll be basically doing the same install. Might as well add $500 now and save yourself some time/money on tires in the future.

Dumb illiterate question... how? I mean are the stock tyres stretched then? I always thought there wasn't a big tolerance in the sizes one can fit on a wheel.

10" wide wheel can cope with 255-285 wide tyres but optimum is 265 or 275 width tyres... Also remembering that not all tyres dim'ns are the same - photo below shows 2 265/35/19 tyres. One on the left is a Pirelli Trofeo R and the right is an oem MPSS.. Props to GreatWhiteM2 for the photo.

I'm about to do the same thing. Currently running OEM wheels and tires for the street but with 12/10mm spacers FR, and I've got coilovers with -2.9deg camber. My shop reckons if I ditch the spacers I'll absolutely be able to run that setup with RE71 tires

Photo is with 5mm spacer in the front, negative camber dialed. No spacer in the rear (although I have another 5mm for that as well). |

So it seems that increasing from 245 & 265 to 255 & 275 (keeping the 35% profile) is a safe option (no rubbing) that would not require extra camber, on the stock M2 wheels, at least for DD and a non lowered car.
And a good option seems to be the MPS4S Last edited by chiraoka; 10-18-2019 at 01:47 PM.. |

Nah you don't need camber for stock height

That's what I have exactly. I'm super happy. Would have done it the day I bought the car if I knew how much I'd like it.

not only that but for some reason, the 255/275 combo is 32.00 cheaper on tirerack than 245/265

Worth going from 245/265 to 255/275 on a 2020 M2C?
Guys--
A little help? I'm considering swapping out tires when my 2020 M2C finally arrives. I expect it to show up wearing Michelin Pilot Super Sports in (obviously) 245/35/19 and 265/35/19. I'm **considering** swapping the rubber out with Michelin PS4S in a +1: 255/35/19 and 275/35/19. they're within 1% of the stock rolling diameter and I **think** they'll fit on OEM wheels with OEM suspension with no rubbing. The reasons I'm considering this are: 1. Rim protection with the slightly wider tire (theory being that with the slightly wider rubber, you'll end up with a bit more rash protection). 2. Ride compliance, as the 35 aspect ratio will be slightly larger. 3. Better traction on the rear (broke the rears on the test car loose with very little effort-- I'd like to be able to plant the rear a bit more). The car will NOT be a track vehicle-- but rather a "weekend/date night" toy, so I have no plans to modify the suspension or go with aftermarket wheels. Thoughts? Is this a reasonable idea? Or am I wasting money? TIA-- R. Last edited by flybigjet; 01-16-2020 at 07:31 AM.. |

I don't think the upgrade is worth it from brand new tires. Once your Super Sports wear out then sure, go for the 4s to replace them. Otherwise you're going to be dropping $1k+ for an increase in performance you're highly unlikely to notice.

I recently switched to 255/285 35 profiles and really happy with the results. There is a persistent rattle from the rear quarter deck lid that I could hear over a bad pavement when I was on MPSS, but to my surprise the rattle went away after switching to MP4S. It almost feels like a different car now - very compliant and super grippy.
Change your tires before MPSS rattles your car out haha. |

But... I do have a set of 255/275 RE71Rs for the track, so a few times a year, I get my fix! |

If your priority is
1. Looks + ride compliance, swap to PS4S 255/275 2. Performance only, swap to AD08R in 245/265 which has more grip than the PS4S in 255/275 and handles better because of the much stiffer side wall 3. Looks + performance, swap to AD08R 255/275 in 35 profile |
