Ah.. a tender subject for those that have had a failure I suppose.. but yet many love that motor.

The oil pump issues and associated recall is a hallmark of the S54... but it sure doesn't seem to stop it from being revered as one of the best

Yeah, I don't disagree. I'm sure it is well loved, even with the issues that have been experienced.

Same thing with the 20s on my CS, much much better than what was on the 235 and totally livable - you are not going to be sorry to get this car my friend.

Whatever you say.
I'm frankly surprised the Mods put your thread on a sticky saying M2 production starts in February. At the same time the Mods put a sticky right below yours saying M2 production starts in November.
To me, that looks silly. I'm surprised it was allowed.
Then again, maybe I'm missing something.

Will it get the auto rev matching option with the manual gearbox? And what about the M3 style carbon fibre struttbrace in the engine bay, will it have one?

AFAIK there is no info on these topics yet, but both are a possibility.

Likely will only add the Harmon Kardon Stereo option to my bare bone model. Does anyone have experience with this unit? Half a year ago I put a priceless CD into a 2006 M5 at the dealership as it was in the repair bay. Sound quality was easily worth a 1000 dollars.

I spoke with a guy at a car accessory shop yesterday as I was looking into a $200 "bass bazooka". It could be a travesty in some ways to order the M2 with the stock stereo and then subsequently upgrading at the car audio shop. Essentially, a perfectly good sound system could end up collecting dust or buried in the landfill.

Good audio in a car is mostly based on positioning of the speakers and the type of hardware used. The normal Hifi system doesn't have the high positioned tweeters (correct me if I am wrong), which makes a huge difference. Also HK will have a better crossover installed, making sure the speakers have better audio steering.

So all in all you can upgrade your audio system with more speakers but then you are going to position similar type speakers in the higher positions in the doors and maybe add some additional gear in the trunk.

If you really want the best speakers and best audio go to a good aftermarket specialist and let him build-in something decent costing you decent cash. You do not want to spend so much, just go for HK. It is decent enough and saves you the hassle. It just gives that extra little bit of high and mid level mix to the audio you need.

And a bass bazooka belongs in the back of 15 year old 320d with a fake M body kit, imitation M badges and Asian replica M wheels, not in a brand new M2

Actually, it is a reminder of as a 16 year old your buddy with a Bazooka in the back of his turbocharged Daytona.

So went to a smaller BMW dealership requesting to check out a HK optioned vehicle on the lot today. It was an X5, and maybe it was just me; it wasn't very good. Maybe should have let the system warm up more?

An hour later tried to park in style at the local car audio shop. It was closed on Sunday.

Completely different systems with different number of speakers. Most agree that the HK is ok at best, but probably not worth it.

There are plenty of threads dedicated to that on the 2er forums.

I don't know what bmw is doing to upgrade the n55 for the m2, but based on past experience, i definitely wouldnt want one in a track car.
??? My 135is N55 has never had a problem at the track. Never been in limp mode including in 90+ degree humid days. 30 minute sessions times 7 per day. Maybe its the auxiliary radiator that came with the 'is'. I wish I could say the same of the brakes and the tires. I ended up going to a BBK kit - problem solved. 245/35 MPSS is the largest I can fit and they are literally melting from the abuse. I wish I could get an RE11 in that size.

Back on topic. No issues for me on an N55 based M2. I'm first on the list at my local dealer with $1K down.

He couldn't give me an exact date yet, but his BMW order screen stated the production is set for February 2016. Normally it takes about two to three weeks for a new car to get from Germany to Belgium. So I estimate somewhere around the beginning of March I will get my M2. I will check with him from time to time to see if the date changes. You'll be the first to know!

thank you for the updates? did you asked your dealer about whether the M2 is limited production or allocation to each region?

i came back from a dealer this morning (Melbourne, Australia), they said it probably limited production like the 1M

can you help to ask your dealer? thank you
