I'm running Michelin X-Ice 3s on 245-40-18s square setup.
Something I wanted to share here is that I recently got a dash cam so it's been fun looking at clips. It came in super handy today when I had to bring in my car to the dealership and happen to catch the guy making fun of my wheels. Also didn't appreciate how hard they were driving it (not in this clip) considering it's still in the break-in stage. While I would say that my choice in rims are nothing cool, but for snows...I don't feel like it warranted his comment. Or I'm just butthurt lol. around the 0:23 mark. https://streamable.com/939uh |

And I feel the same way about winter wheels... I wouldn't call the ones I'm using "nice" by any stretch of the word... but they were cheap as hell, are from a decent manufacturer, and are relatively heavy and solid (good for winter potholes). I really don't give a crap what the tech thinks, but it's also not their job to comment on a customer's car choices. My car is going in for the break-in service in a week or two and I wish I had my dashcam installed (it's on my Christmas list and I probably need the service before then). TBH, I don't see any reason they should drive the car at all after the break-in service, other than moving it out of the garage... But I'm not sure what work yours was in for?

So considering now I have given myself this reputation of being "nit-picky" and "anal" (at least from the dealership's perspective), I'm choosing to just let this go as I know complaining to the manager or what not will get me no where except maybe reaffirming being a pain in the ass. Just happy to have my car back and now will not have to deal with the dealership sales side anymore. Sorry OP, this has gotten off topic lol |

18" square setup using old M3 wheels and new Michelin PA4 rubber. So far so good although I've yet to see snow.

Maybe they were thinking; why is this guy putting fake 18" M2 wheels on his M2 and they did not get your way of thinking about winterwheel? BTW; is that a official BMW dealership?

I'm picking up my LBB LCI later this week. For some time now I can't make my mind what wheels/tires should I choose for the winter time. I'm considering 3 options:
1. Winter tires Pirelli Sottozero 2 for my 19 summer rims which will cost approx 1000 bucks. 2. 19 inch wheels from M4 with 7mm Dunlop SP Winter Sport 3D tires, square setup 255/35 which will cost 1200 bucks. 3. 18 inch rims ZP Performance 06 8j ET38 front and 9j ET38 rear. https://www.felgen-online.de/z-perfo...6-zp6-gunmetal Cost 1500 bucks + tires. My questions are. What in your opinion would be the best choice? What tire size should I use with ZP rims if I choose this option? I live in Poland where winters aren't that harsh so it's more a choice of aesthetics. |

Sorry to bring back an old thread.
I've read that that 17" would not work for an M2. I figured I'd ask my dealer anyways. I had asked them if a 225/40/17 set of winters would fit the M2 and to my surprise, they said yes. So now, I'm a little confused with conflicting information. Has anyone here run 17" winters on an M2? |

No. 17s won't fit, 18s smallest you can go on OG if you're Comp with big brakes then 19s.

Not happy with my square winter setup
For my New England winter setup for my OG M2, I bought a square set of 18x8" ET32 BBS SR wheels and Michelin X-Ice XI3 Studless snow tires, 245/40 R18. This setup was recommended by others.
I hate it. The car is all over the road and steering is unresponsive on wet and dry pavement. I wish it would snow instead of rain so I can better enjoy the $2200 I spent on the setup. Now I drive my truck around instead of my M2. I used to drive my '92 750iL V12 with a winter snow tire setup to Vermont and Canada to ski. She could go straight up a snowy icy hill no problem. I don't remember what was on her feet but there was not as much difference as I'm experiencing with my M2's winter vs. summer setup. |

I wasn't happy with the square setup (18x9 with 245/40/18 Blizzak WS80) at first but I got used to it. It's a lot of fun in MDM mode in the wet. I started using the stiffer sport steering setting to make the car more stable on the highway. |
