Hey man, I feel for you. This completely sucks and the way the dealership handled everything is crazy.
However, I see a lot of exaggeration on this topic. The damages to your car are very easily repaired. Front bumper, lip and wheels are literally the easiest things to fix on a car, it will look like brand new. The only thing you need to keep an eye at is the wheel alignment. I highly doubt there will be damage to any of the axles based on the wheel's damage, but it's never too much. I would honestly get the whole car fixed, document as much as possible, and be done with it. Yeah the dealership effed up, but think about your time and effort, choose the easiest and best way out (for you!). People claiming they want 6.000usd for devaluation - this is insane. BMW will never do this. And based on what happened, you haven't lost nearly as much. Like I said, even if it has a history, it's stuff that was replaced and is literally as new - if you showed me this when I was buying your car, I would be 100% ok with it. And I would never buy a car with considerable damage history. |

OP I know it sucks to be in this situation, but the other insurance company is not in the business of overcompensating you over this. In their eyes, this is a minor accident where they will have to replace 2 wheels and perhaps a new bumper. You may not even get new tires out of the deal. Seems like you want to go for diminished value over this, but You will not get $6000 over scuffed rims (that will be new), and a scuffed bumper. The damage is just not enough. Just my humble opinion.
Of course you have to weigh your options, but sometimes the dealer will work with you (and this is the DC area's largest BMW dealer I think) and make you happy, whereas the insurance will play by the book. Its a tough call but you need to play the odds. Have you seen the car in person? Driven it? Pictures can look like crap, but you need to go see your car and drive it to see what else is going on (if any) |

To be honest, I stopped going to the dealer a long time ago, and I'm STILL under warranty for factory maintenance.
I actually go to a trusted specialist now (the guy does amazing work and I can see my car being worked on the entire time) and just pay out of pocket. I simply don't trust any dealership. The only time I deal with a dealer is when I buy a new car, and that's only because I HAVE to, since manufactuerers (other than Tesla) don't sell direct. |

I wouldn't replace an entire bumper just for that; the original bumper has a VIN sticker attached to it and the new one is just going have "DOT-R" in that place of the VIN sticker.
Whenever possible, It's always better to retain the original bumper with the VIN sticker for resale purposes, not to mention the paint matching in that color is probably a hit or miss. Just negotiate a cash settlement with the dealer and fix it on your own.. If you are lucky, you might be able to pocket some money and keep that damaged wheel as a full size spare. That's what I did in my case with a dealer and I came out ahead. . |

The second time after I got it back in less than 10 minutes, I took it to my indy mechanic immediately after and he showed me proof that the dealer didn't change it at all. Same oil, same filter - nothing was done. Don't know about you, but I don't like being lied to. |

Imagine believing you are keeping up with the maintenance of your vehicle, by changing the oil on time. Then come to realize that all they did was reset the counter, so the same old, burnt out oil is being reused for another 10,000 miles Now that BMW has done away with their full 4 year free maintenance program they used to throw in, they are not touching my next vehicle, unless it's some costly repair covered under the warranty and it makes sense to utilize it. I'm going to miss the free loaner cars but it's not worth the risk of what you just outlined. I have a digital torque wrench, oil filter adaptor, jack and ISTA-D to reset the oil maintenance counter myself. I can change my own oil and do my own maintenance. At least then I could sleep better at night knowing it was actually done. Jeez, what a story.. 😗 |

He wasn't being slow or doing anything intentionally off. Just the most normal oil change in the world - lifted the car up, drain plug is unscrewed, old oil goes into pan below, clean up a bit, car goes back down, old oil filter is removed, fresh oil is put in and measured, new oil filter is prepped and then put in, etc etc. That to me is NORMAL. Doing a proper oil change just takes about an hour, 30-45 min if you're insanely fast. How a dealership can lie to my face and tell me they did it in 10 minutes is brazen AF. |

United BMW in Roswell, GA.
Granted, not all dealerships are the same. The dealer I ordered my car from, BMW of Ridgefield (in Connecticut), was honest from the moment I walked in to order and went above and beyond for me post delivery. United left a very bad taste in my mouth and I decided not to mess with any/all Atlanta BMW dealerships anymore and just go with my indy guy for maintenance. More peace of mind for me. I have a suspicion United does not like doing the "free maintenance" on warranty vehicles because there's no incentive for them to do it. (Sorry for hijacking thread, OP - really shitty thing to have happened to you and it sucks seeing pics of all the damage. Hopefully you can get this all resolved soon, and the dealership pays you a shit ton for compensation.) |

And that's exactly why I don't let prick xyz pretend they did or not what I requested. I can see my car on the lift at my trusted shop and they even take images and send them if needed to approve repair or call me to check it out on the vehicle itself. No bs 100% straight and honest.

I have it on good authority that franchise dealers don't appreciate completing inclusive maintenance work VS an hourly paid ticket, where they can pad the bill. They usually leave that grunt work for the techs who doesn't have much experience and is now earning his wings or as punishment to a tenure techs that are underperforming. Just goes to show you that there is no such thing as a free lunch in this world, you pay one way or the other. My next BMW, I'm honestly doing everything myself and skipping the manufacture's gratis maintenance offering. Over the years, I've gain a monumental amount of experience and technical knowhow, plus YouTube and the availability of internet, no one really has any excuse for being ignorant - It's such a good time for a DIY mechanic. Prior to the proliferation of the information superhighway, you were at the mercy of your local franchise dealer but nowadays they are just a matter of convenience. Barring swapping major drivetrain components, with my power tool and tablet with a hacked version we of NewTIS/ ISTA-D, the sky is the limit when it comes to wherewithal automotive maintenance and repairs. So I can now show the dealer the duces… ✌🏻 |

Yeah, the 10 minute oil change story is unsettling but I know 99.9% of customers take advantage of the "free service" we all get, and we should. Thankfully, there are good independent techs in my area that get all my business (for all the brands that I own), once the factory maintenance is over. No reason to go to a dealer.

Update: after speaking briefly with the collision center this morning, they are estimating ~13k in repairs, possibly more. From visual inspection, they stated the suspension looks ok (I'm running M Perf coilovers), but they truly won't know until they test drive it, align it with new wheels, etc. Also, here's a kicker: the collision center informed me that when the car was dropped off, the tow truck driver scruffed up my rear CF diffuser, and slightly damaged my CF remus race exhaust tips. So, they are now adding in the replacement of exhaust tips in the repair. So far, repairs will should cover the main areas:
- new front bumper cover + paint - carbon lip - two complete 788 wheel replacements + brand new MPSS tires on the right passenger side - new remus race exhaust tips - replacement of right side oil aux radiator (apparently the bracket holding this broke, and you can't just order the bracket) - various underside belly covers That still doesn't cover the PPF and ceramic coat that was put on the car. |

Will PM you. Since I am still figuring out best path forward with the dealership, I am refraining on posting here, especially since I may pursue legal action.
